Amritsar by Air Deccan

Hi all, I am just trying to get to Amritsar from Delhi the best possible way. The only two airlines I think fly to Amritsar are Air Deccan or Indian Airlines. From what I have heard, Indian airlines are horrible. Would it be a good idea to fly air deccan to Amritsar? I have been told my couple people before that air deccan is fairly safe. It's just too cheap (4 one way tix for less than $180), so it just worries me.

Also, is it any cheaper to book the tix from India?

We also have a couple of Indian friends who will be flying with us. Now they have never flown before. I am not sure what type of Documents Indians need to fly. They both do not have any driver licenses or passports....can any indians here tell me what we can do to make sure they can travel by air without any problems?

Indians dont need any documents to fly nationally. I am a NRI and have PIO card and travelled by air Delhi -Goa and was not asked for any documents at check in. However if they have ration card they could take them as identification document.
