Hi Kanbe ...Your article states "E-ticketing is available for all domestic India flight routes except those to/from Calicut" for Indian Airlines. But recently I booked eticket from Calicut to Mumbai. so is it that eticket is issued these days for this route (your forum may be posted long before, before the new updates)........

Hi all,

First time poster... apologies that this is similar question to some which have been asked above but I just want to get it clear in my mind.

I've read at various places in this forum that you can easily book domestic tickets after arriving in India (ie, weeks or days prior to travel). Yet when I look on airlines' websites (specifically IndiGo and SpiceJet) it tells me that no flights are available and "are probably sold out" for as far ahead as they will let me search, typically August or even later. Do flights on the cheaper airlines get booked out in a matter of minutes, months in advance, as soon as they become available? (We're looking to fly from somewhere in South India - probably Bangalore - to Kolkata, for what it's worth).

Thanks for any advice.

Like you say, if you look closely you'll see that Kanbe made the original starting post of this thread (now an article) in May 2005. So not all of that may be up-to-date.

Another airline - - -

What about MDLR? A smaller carrier, but good service to north, east and south destinations and up and coming expansion.

Well it depends:

Look at the following search:
http://www.ixigo.com/search/result/f...92009//1/0/0/e

In the above case I would have preferred Kingfisher over Spicejet.
