Thanks Kanbe - this is going to help quite a bit! :-)
Thanks, Kanbe, for starting a very useful thread. I've made it a sticky, so that posters can locate it easily and keep adding relevant information.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop !
Great work, Kanbe!! this is of terrific value!
Well done, Kanbe! It's great to have all the useful links and information in one thread as the subject is complicated and the airlines frequently change prices and programs.
Couple of quick notes:
--Air Sahara also has seniors fares which appear to offer a very good discount.
--Domestic tickets can also be purchased abroad at the usual $US fare through partner airlines as well as from the airlines' overseas offices. Can normally be added to your main ticket. i.e. a Mumbai-Goa segment with Jet could be added to a LAX-BOM ticket when buying through your neighborhood travel agent.
--perhaps it is due to the sinking USD, but the $ fares now appear to be lower than regular Rupee fares by around 8% on the IA site. I'm having difficulty finding out if the same is true at Jet as I'm having a problem navigating the site.
--the ticket 'auctions', like some of the other programs such as 'apex' fares are only available for Indian residents (edit: I notice there is now a $US apex fare for 21 day advance purchase on IA with discounts varying between 16-23% on the fares I checked). I'm also not clear how these auctions work; perhaps a post providing information for Indian residents by someone who has used these programs would be helpful.
A 'sticky' for sure!

Hi,
Spicejet (http://www.spicejet.com/home.asp) has just launched their online booking this morning. They were advertising domestic tickets for as low as Rs. 99 ! The site was really slow and heavily loaded this morning, but seems to be a lot better now.
Realistically speaking, I did manage to get a deal for Rs. 499 on a Bangalore-Delhi ticket, which is still awesome. Of course, it's too early to say how reliable they are, or to comment on the quality of service. But if they can get me from point A to point B so cheaply, then I'm not too bothered about the rest.
For those who know RyanAir or the local version, Air Deccan, the ticket is similar, i.e. a computer printout. One thing unique to Spicejet is the ability to book your seat beforehand on the internet. That's nicer than the scramble for seats in every Air Deccan flight.
Kanbe, am too lazy to edit your post - please copy and paste in the place you find relevant. :-)

Spicejet joins the party: Mumbai-Delhi for Rs 99
Spicejet on Tuesday entered the low-cost airline sector in India with special fares of Rs 99 for the first 99 days of its operation.
The airline will operate its first commercial flight on May 23 with services between Delhi and Mumbai via Ahmedabad, Spicejet CEO Mark Winders told reporters in New Delhi.
"We are not only committed to extending the low airfare phenomenon to India, but we also want to link it to strong quality quest services focus," he said.
