Thanks Anders, much appreciated feedback.

Good to know I was right on the Old Delhi station. As for Paharganj, this makes sense and also sounds quite feasible, thank you for the suggestion.

Does anybody know how frequent the airport shuttle is from International to Domestic in Delhi?

What time does it leave?

My international flight arrives at 12.30pm and i need to get to the domestic for a flight to Varanasi at 15.50

Question Delhi Airport -Domestic Terminal - Police Booth for taxis?

Trying to find an answer here - does anyone know if there is the Police Booth for booking taxis from Domestic Terminal? I know there is one for International Terminal but not sure about Domestic. I'm arriving midday from Jodhpur or Jaisalmer whichever flight is running!!!! and wondered about the Police booth here or not?

Sorry folks - checked machadinha's previous link and found my answer! Good link btw, thanks Machadinha!

(in case more info is required)

Last I was in Delhi a couple of months ago, there were two prepaid taxi booths before you exit the airport.. unsure about the 'Police Booth' business, but both are approved (and are valid for the same queue of taxis bunched at the exit), and a constable asks the passenger(s) in each taxi their name and where they are going before the taxi drives off from the terminal.

thanks Shashank, didn't know about this - normally at International terminal I go for Delhi Tourism counter, not pre-paid, and I guess that pre-paid police booths at Domestic are going to be the same type of cab as International- being winter I don't need a/c so thought that would be o.k. But as you say, lots of them are clapped out vehicles. Also some murders done by drivers of these ones.. I figured daylight hours would be o.k. and by now act cleaned up?? I guess still a risk for a single woman...? Have noted your companies and numbers for Radio Taxis - very useful.

Radio cabs actually work out to be cheaper than the Pre-paid cabs...

Besides I have got horrible Experiences with these Pre-paid ones and I am a male and a Delhiite...

My home is some distance from the main road and you have to cover around 700 M in the streets..those pre-paid cab drivers they start bickering.,.saying that they are supposed to take me to point X and I have to pay extra ..sometimes we are two guys from area traveling together..so they have a problem in dropping someone at one point and other person at different point in same area...

However since I have started to use the radio cabs, there have been no problems of these kinds..take them whereever you want..make them stop at your wish..

Definitely won't take the Pre-paid now - I'll keep Radio Cabs nos. in my wallet for ready reference, and maybe, as you say not sure re time arrivals etc. I will look for one of the counters at the Terminal on arrival. Would book ahead, but sometimes my BSNL Rajasthan Sim doesn't ring out via Dolphin (MTNL) - it's very erratic - did in August, didn't in May and June. People can ring in to me but I can't get out! I also have Airtel for GPRS, but similar problem with that too.

You book the same before boarding the flight...

once you land in Delhi, if you can use the mobile then fine, or else use the local phone to confirm the status of the driver..

I just want you to give it a shot..as I want to know a third persons experience in handling the same ... if you don't find it good, or face any problems you can simply take the pre-paid cab and move one...

I have tried it several times, my Chacha Ji, did it last month, another of my friend did it on my recommendation, they all are happy using the service. But they all are local to Delhi and easily handle scenarios which might seem weired to an outsider..so just try it and give your inputs in the forum itself..

If money is not a constraint, go in for radio cabs like 1929. World class service.

If money is factor, take that prepaid taxi from the airport. Not a world class service though but cheapest way to go from point A to B.

Forgot to mention that i have used prepaid taxis a lot [from delhi airport] and have not faced any issues. Once we had a flat tyre which that guy fixed quickly that too in the dead of the night.
