Don't know if you are aware but the UK banks are supplying rupees with the proviso that it is at your own risk.

No idea how far it actually is, but if you look at this Metro Map, you can see the airports are just east of "DWARKA SEC-9" (the southern-most station)

Incidentally, PHASE II has a line runnning into the airport complex

Metro is still work in progress. I don't know if it makes any sense to take a cab to the nearest Metro station. Also, afraid of terrorism, they are pretty restrictive of luggage at present.

Shuttle or pre-paid taxis??

Hey All:

I'm debating between choosing the free shuttle or a pre-paid taxi. Can anyone help me out with my questions? Here are my details:

Arriving @ Mumbai (int'l terminal): 10:35 p.m.
Leaving from Mumbai (domestic terminal): 5:20 a.m.
- should I take a shuttle or a pre-paid taxi?
- how much does each cost?
- any advice on how/where to spend the time?
- what should I do to pass the time? Which terminal?

----------------------------------------------------------------

Arriving @ Delhi (domestic terminal): 8:30 p.m.
Leaving from Delhi (int'l terminal): 12:40 a.m.
- should I take a shuttle or a pre-paid taxi?
- how much does each cost?
- any advice on how/where to spend the time?
- will I make it to my flight on time?

----------------------------------------------------------------

I also need to exchange some US dollars in Mumbai to pay for the shuttle or cab & food, etc at the airport. Will I be able to do this? Do the Indian airports also have the "no liquids in handcarry" rule like North America & Europe?

Thx in advance for the help

i dont know about Mumbai but in Delhi you should take the shuttle from the domestic airport to international as the distance between the two is very small.

More than enough time for the shuttle, take the free shuttle. Also airport has money changer booths.

Airports are liberal in security, so do not worry about liquids, Liquid away!!!

"How long should I expect to take from the airport to the city centre?"
It should take you an hour / hour and a half(Depending on traffic). So if you plan well what places you would like to visit it is achievable but remember u should be bk to airport atleast 3-2 hours before ur flight.

Hello everyone,

I will be arriving at the International Airport of Delhi around 22:00. I intend to catch a train from the Delhi train station (station code: DLI) for DehraDun leaving in 07:05. I am unaware of the location/proximity of the two however, and am uncertain as to what would be the best course of action for the 9-hour interval. How long would it take me to get to the train station after leaving the airport? Do you think I should stay at a local hotel for a few hours? Also, how is this train station correctly reffered to to a taxi driver to avoid confusion with other train stations within Delhi?

Thank you very much for any help,

Kain

Here is a partial update. I suppose the station is in the north-east of the International airport, depicted in this map as "Old Delhi Rs."? (found slightly to the southeast of Delhi University). If not please do point out my error.

Still, the question remains, how far is the station from the airport and how long would it take one to get there? Is a hotel stay advisable?

Thank you everyone,

Kain

DLI is the Old Delhi station. If I were you I would book a room somewhere in Paharganj and get a good nighs sleep before taking that train.
