We are flying Air india from Kathmandu to Delhi, then Kingfisher from Delhi to Pune!
If you don't do it this year.... YOU WILL BE ONE YEAR OLDER WHEN YOU DO!

Please clarify sleeping in DEL airport ASAP!

Hi Friends,

I've been searching a ton of posts here, but still have questions. So, any help you can offer to clarify would be most appreciated!

I am set to land in Delhi at 8:30pm. I leave for Kathmandu the next morning at 7:30am. I would prefer not to leave the airport, and thought to just sleep on a couch or something there, but am getting conflicting reports about what is and is not possible in the airport.

I looked into the sleeping pods, but there are several problems:

1. No toilet or sink.
2. Overpriced.
3. If you try to book online, they only give you two options: 4 or 6 hours.
4. You have to book a time and with possible delays that can occur, you can end up losing your reservation and they offer no refunds.

Hence, the "sleeping on a couch/chair/floor" option. BUT...I am reading here that you are not allowed in the terminal (T3 is where I will be landing and departing) until 3 or 4 hours before your flight. I have around 11 hours in between flights.

Questions:

1. Is there anywhere to sleep /lay down apart from the pods? (ie Benches, etc and not something like bucket chairs/chairs with armrests, etc)

2. Can I stay in the airport all night?

3. In order to collect my luggage, don't I still have to go through customs? (It will not be checked through to KTM)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Kiki - I don't know if you regard the pods are overpriced as a quantum, or overpriced for what you're getting. There is a transit hotel - which I haven't used - but am planning to.

http://newdelhiairport.eatonhotels.c...ort_hotels.htm

At least one IMer has:
Sleeping at New Delhi Airport

However - you will need to be flying Air India, Jet or Kingfisher to Kathmandu because they operate from Terminal 3 (where the transit hotel is).

My understanding is that T3 security will not let you enter the building more than 6 hours before your flight, which means you would not be able to access the transit hotel if your flight does not arrive at T3.

Hi,

We are arriving to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal 3 from Qatar at 7-55 (according to schedule). Our next flight is at 10-45 from the same Terminal 3 to Bagdogra (with 1 stop).

Do you think there is a chance to miss the flight at 10-45 due to some routine procedures upon arrival (customs, baggage receiving, etc...)? What is the best way to save our time and do not miss the next flight?

Any hints please.

Thanks,
Oleg.

If the flight is on time - You will not have crowding at the immigrations and customs, as the flight before QR, is from Munich, an LH; and next flight is from Adiss Ababa at 9:10.

Make sure you have filled the form correctly, and try to get off the plane quickly (not much chance unless you can get a seat in teens i.e seat number between 12-19 (the flights in mid-november look pretty empty to me )

Your luggage is a function of a FIFO, and connecting pattern at Doha. If you are on the same PNR, the airline Jet might wait for you if there is a delay

Thanks Nycank!

Hope that flight will arrive to Delhi on time.
Next flight from Delhi is by Kingfisher, we are planning to check-in 48 hours in advance via on-line service. Do you think this will ensure that they will wait us?

Is there in airport Kingfisher office / counter where we can apply for ticket re-booking (i.e. change the date of departure in case we are late)?
Is there any actual template of immigration card in the Net? Can you drop me the link please?

Thanks a lot!
Oleg.

I have booked a kingfisher flight from Bangalore to Jammu. Two flight are connecting in it.
From Bangalore to Delhi and another from Delhi to Jammu. Both are kingfisher flights and PNR what i got is same for both the flights.
Layover time in Delhi is 45 minutes.

So, my doubt is, in Delhi, do i need to shift to another flight myself or the airline will take care of it? because the layover time in Delhi is only 45 minutes and if need to shift to the another flight myself, then it will be difficult for me. Probably, i 'll miss the connecting flight. I am worried about a bit.

So, please clarify the procedure in changing the flight in above mentioned condition.

I would have cancelled Kingfisher tickets and would have opted for other airliners!
And latest update, The airliners are not accepting transfer from Kingfisher.
They are asking the passengers to directly approach them for flying!

The best way is to book a cab operated by operators like Meru, Esasycab etc.

The original post in this thread is misleading now that T3 has been constructed.

Should a moderator either edit the first post or unsticky the thread?
