Airport facilities

Hi Folks,well only a fortnight to wait till I'm in India and I'm really excited! I just wanted to pick your brains again though. I have a stop in Abu Dhabi for a few hours on the way to Bombay and i was wondering what the facilities were like eg shopping,showers etc also what is Bombay airport like?
Any info most gratefully received!

Abu Dhabi airport is very modern and clean...can't remember if there are showers there - I didn't use them but there probably are some somewhere. Lots of duty free shops and coffee bars and not very crowded...at least that's how I remember it. It was easy to kill a few hours there. Last clean toilets before the subcontinent.

I don't know Mumbai airport that well as I usually arrive in Delhi. It's a bit better than Delhi I think but pretty basic compared to other international airports. You can get food there ...the bar is really overpriced I seem to remember. I don't recommmend spending too long there.

Not sure what you need at the Mumbai airport -- there is a hole-in-the-wall State Bank of India 24hr window, no ATM, a hotel booking service, and a host of touts outside if you want to spend the night near the airport. If you have a connecting flight, Jet Airways and IA have a shuttle bus to the domestic terminal, which is pretty devoid of frills. If you are contemplating staying the night in the airport, as in, have a flight in the morning or don't want to pay for a room at 3am etc., we covered this somewhat in the "Sleeping in Airports" thread which might be of interest.

cheers for the info folks.Looking forward to doing some shopping in Abu Dhabi airport, just hope i don't run out of cash before we get to India!
