Air from Jaisalmer to Udaipur

Hi all!

Does anyone know anything about an Indian Airlines flight from Jaisalmer to Udaipur? My brother says he heard something about it being available Nov-Feb . . . if anyone knows whether it truly exists or not (details?), that would be great!

Thanks!

Currently it does not exist. I believe Jaisalmer airport is still closed to commercial operations.

Thanks Shimla!

So, for right now, we are planning our itinerary to be Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Udaipur-Mumbai. Is there a way to get from Jaisalmer to Udaipur without going backwards or wasting a lot of time? Your suggestions?

Her's just a suggestion to think about before the real experts come along (and correct me!): if you go from Agra by overnight train direct to Jodhpur (train 2307 goes from 1935 to 1015, an easy travelling sector), and then on to Jaisalmer, you can come back to Jaipur from Jaisalmer on train 4060, which leaves Jaisalmer at 1615 and arrives Jaipur 0520, another easy travelling sector (it will pass through previously-visited Jodhpur, of course, but, I would imagine, at some ungodly hour you won't even know about). There are, I think, then regular trains from Jaipur to Udaipur (e.g. train 9765).

You may find better mixes on the indiarail website -- or check any of the posts by Steven Ber, who is a walking encyclopedia on this subject.

jarman_ah, your suggested trains are EXACTLY the ones I would have suggested.

Until the tracks linking Jaisalmer with Bikaner (next year) or Jaisalmer with Barmer (a couple of years) are laid, there is really only one way to get to/from Jaisalmer, via Jodhpur.

Do Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Jaisalmer.

Then, Jaisalmer - Jodhpur - Marwar - Udaipur.

This ensures minimum back-tracking.
