AIR DECCAN--Whats it all about
I guess there is a new airline and wondered if anyone knew anything about it. I could be incorrect but I think today is the first day of service. Any stories written about them? How old are their planes? Any info would be great!

Have a search in Google News. I read an article that said their Rs.700 fares have sold out six months in advance, so don't hold your breath.

Air Deccan is the cheapest no frills operator over here.
They carry you from a place A to B just like a city bus. Do not expect a fancy looking check-in counter or a colorful ticket with an impressive jacket (the ticket is just a regular paper printout or a photocopy of it). No food is served. But you can pay and buy water/snacks etc from the hostess on board. No reading materials, no mileage program. No seat number allowed at the boarding time. Just get inside the plane and occupy the best seat available. If you are early you can ‘catch’ a nice seat. The latecomer usually land up at the seat next to the toilet. And all these makes it a no nonsense airline. There is no catch. They accept practically any ID with photo as proof (Driving license, Passport, Company ID, College ID, School ID, Credit card, Voter card, Ration card,…..) www.airdeccan.net |

Air Deccan
Yesterday I booked a return flight from Delhi to Bangalore for the end of November. Very impressed at the INR6750 fare (incl tax), compared to USD255 for the one way fare that I believe Indian Air charges.
A little concerned now with the T&Cs "When the amount that has been collected is not the fare applicable on the day of travel, the difference shall be paid be the passenger, or refunded...." Could someone reassure me that they aren't entitled to charge the full price for the ticket when I turn up? Many thanks in advance. |
