Air Deccan

They have been around (apparently) since 1995 but I only came across them yesterday when I booked my flights

Mumbai - Vadodara Rs1350 inc Taxes (High season December 29th)

Ahmedabad - Mumbai Rs 750 inc taxes!

I am in the UK so I had to call India to book. Its a cheap call so i did not mind. Suraj was on at the time and he was very helpful.

I have never flown with them so lets see....

Have used air deccan extensively in blr, hyd, chennai and goa sectors. If you are unlucky you get old tacky aircraft. Else just like jet airways ATR

Why did you have to call india?

I just booked mine over the net. Easy-peasy.

Did Hyd-Chennai-Hyd yesterday. Spanking new A-320 aircraft, Cattle class all through ( 30 rows from the front exit to rear exit ). Free seating as was in the ATR, which saw latecomers getting the middle seats.

saw audio/video control panels by the seats (including headphone sockets like in international flights ) but nothing was mentioned about it during the flight. perhaps they will be providing it for longer flights.

Veg Roll Rs 40/ Coffee Rs 10/- ( will the cabin crew be getting an incentive as was reported in a website ? i dont know. they didnt seem to be overly enthusiastic to sell anyway. Actually very few people bought stuff.

Flight was packed. Seems they are doing well!

I am interested in booking a flight from Mumbai to Bangalore for Jan 22, one way, and though the website says there is a 700rs fare, all I can get is 3,000 rs. How do you get the "Internet fares" they have listed? Do I have to call India? If so, that's not an "internet fare" , right? Im not finding Deccan to be very easy-peasy.

the price is FROM 700Rs. That means if is a blue moon and you happen to log on the exact minute that the seats become available then you willget the fare, oh and it helps if you work for deccan air or are a vvvip, and if perhaps ou have 2 heads or the midas touch.

basically the cheapseats all get sold out very very quickly so don't even think you can get a 700Rs fare. This isn't really any different rom the major international flights which come out in price bands as well. Not every seat is priced the same even in the same flight class.

anyway, 3000Rs is a lot better than the (from memory) 5400 that Indian Air is (or was it even more, could have been 6900, anyway i forget).

And you don't need to ring them, you just book on the net. no different from anyother discount airline around the world. you won't get a different price just because you ring them.

Just got my tickets but it wasn't easy. There's a good new flight from Mumbai to Chennai and this morning it was 1800 Rs one way (wow!) but when I tried, I couldn't get past the "contact" page. I'd click on Submit and nothing would happen. Again and again. This afternoon a friend came over who is more internet savvy than I and he got the form through via a different browser (I use Netscape). By then the fare had gone up to 2200 Rs, but still a good deal. So if you have some problems, try using a different browser!

I have a feeling that India (possibly due to become the technical hub of the world) can only spell one software supplier: microsoft

I'm sure that suits Microsoft just fine
