I booked online...accesed the website airdeccan.net, signed in, chose my flight and date, provided my credit card info, booked a ticket and took a print out of the booking. Next day, I went to the airport at Chennai, showed the print out at the Air deccan counter, flashed my credit card as a proof and collected my boarding pass, boarded the flight and flew all the way to Hyderabad. Simple.

500Rs To Fly from Cochin to Bangalore?

I see on Air Deccan's site that, on some days, the flights from Cochin to Bangalore are only 500Rs, which they call their DynaFare!?! With fees, it comes out to 721Rs total. There must be a catch.

Have any of you taken these ridiculously low fares? Is there a baggage restriction with these fares?

there is no catch. Its like the $29 fare that Southwest Airlines offers here in the US. Air Deccan has a couple of seats at these low prices on each flight. It makes for great advertising, but are difficult to get as they are sold out months in advance.

No catch!Today I purchased a dynafare return Bangalore - Goa!
2x 500 + 2x 221 = $32 for a return flight to Goa. (2 x 1.5 hours of flying!)
I had to look carefully though...check different dates...and then finally
I found a 500 rs there, and a 500 rs back.

No catch! If I would book now it would cost me 5,500rs. 4 times as much!
Same plane, same seats, but cheap cheap cheap!

Air Deccan - Value Flier Package????

Has anyone ever purchase the "value flier package" with AIR DECCAN? If so, what's your experience with this. They have certain sectors and it seems like a good value....14 one way flights in the sectors for 24,000 rupees...you can use them for up to one year from the date of purchase, and it can extend to your wife and kids?

Any luck with Deccan? This kind of package?

I'd appreciate any feedback as my trip is only a month long and this may help me get places faster. I still will ride a few trains...just for the experience of it.

Recently I travelled to Kolkata from Delhi on an airdeccan flight. It was on time even at 20:20 hours. Carry your own drinking water & get on the plane early as they assign no seat numbers so grab a good seat. With such cheap fares I wouldnt complain about leg space. They even SMS'd me about the flight status.
I returned by spicejet again on time. They serve one small bottle of water & cookies.

Hi Jyotirmoy, we are looking at flying from Kolkata to Delhi and Air Deccan certainly have the best deals at present 1579R one way. Do you have any advice on getting from Bhubaneshwar to Kolkata - only airlines that I see that do that trip is Air Decan but expensive for a short flight. Thanks

Will never have anything to do with Air Deccan!!!

Our experiences with Air Deccan were horrible. They have questionable business practices.

We initially had booked their 500Rs fares from Cochin to Bangalore, which we tried to cancel a month before the flight. After starting the "cancel booking" process and going so far as to enter your credit card number, the website stalls and does not respond when you press "Cancel Ticket." You get a javascript error. SO THEN, I emailed refunds@airdeccan, as they instruct you to do, and I received no response...AT ALL.

When we arrived in India, we called Air Deccan, and they said they would refund Rs 1200 of the Rs 1400 that we had paid. They offer NO CONFIRMATION number, so you have to take their word that they will refund the ticket. Well, two days after the flight date, we received a cryptic email saying nothing but "refund denied." Ok, so we lost Rs 1400.

THEN, we had booked a separate flight from Jaipur to Delhi. They cancelled that flight only four hours before departure. THEN GET THIS...they allowed my uncle in Chennai (who was only trying to help us) to CHANGE our tickets WITHOUT our authorization. Now remember, that my uncle's name is no where on the ticket, and he does not have the ticket confirmation number nor our credit card number. When we were finally able to contact Air Deccan 10 minutes after my uncle had spoken to them, they told us that the flight had been changed to the next day, and that we would only get back 50% of our Rs 2000 payment. We argued that THEY had been the ones to cancel the flight, so we should get a FULL Refund, but they said that since the ticket had already been CHANGED, there was nothing they could do. They suggested that I email Air Deccan customer service (which I knew doesn't work). They said that my uncle had all the appropriate information, meaning our phone number and address, to change our ticket, for which he was not the ticket holder nor the credit card holder!!!!

SO the bottom line is, anyone off the street with your phone number and address is officially allowed to change your ticket on AIR DECCAN! In the end, after arguing strongly with three levels of Air Deccan's (incompetent and rude) employees, we told them to refund the 50%. When we asked for a confirmation number, we were told very rudely that that was not how things work at Air Deccan. I asked them how in the world we could trust them to give us our money back, and what keeps them from lying after the fact and sying that the phone call never happened? Anyway, there was nothing we could do.

Eventually, we got the 50% back (though we deserved a full refund), but we never got our money back for the Bangalore ticket. They took quite a bit of our money, and we never even flew with them!

MY advice...be prepared to lose the money you pay, DESPITE what their refund policy may say. And DO NOT use Air Deccan if you value your time in India.

Next time, I would pay the extra money for the more expensive but more reliable tickets of Jet airways or Indian Airlines. My time in India is hard to come by and is very precious; I'd rather spend it with family!

I have always found Air Deccan staff to be very polite, helpful and professional.
