Air Deccan on line booking

Hello,

I just browsed Air Deccan website and it looks like it is now possible to book online with international credit cards.

Cheers for this...

They do appear to have added a new section to their site.

Still having problems though.

They request a 'PIN' on the address page as a mandatory field. Tried entering GB post code but this field will only accept numerical digits. Would a 'PIN' be part of an Indian address?

The Railways site demands a PIN (post code) in Indian format. It'll accept anything, regardless of the address. You could try it here.

Mine's 600 018. Try it! ( or 600018).

Don't go putting those numbers from your card; that would be bad security. They are used to prove that you really do have the card in your hand!

Thanks for the suggestion but there is a separate field for that

Thanks for this, will give it a go.

I have discovered this booking service is for credit cards only. Apparently debit cards will not work.

Learning all the time...

Still no joy on this one I'm afraid.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Tried entering Indian address details but still not working.

The card is good, it's worked ok on the Spicejet site, but it's still saying that the card info isn't correct. I would email deccan but all the contact details aren't being displayed.

I'm having terrible trouble with Air deccan website. First it tries to direct me to another website that is 404. If I try the online booking (I want to go from Kolkatta to port Blair in December 2007)it tells me no flights are available and nearest alternative is march 2008??

I think part of the Deccan site is down at the moment but the booking bit is ok. Just click on the bit where you select destinations and it should re-direct you to the booking page.

This is the link to it > http://airdeccan.booksecure.net/Criteria.aspx

Can't help with the Blair > Calcutta dates sorry.

I don't think this site is accepting foreign cards still. Spudy informed me that she bought her tickets online whilst in India so I think it must depend on your IP address.

That would seem to be the case yes.

Spudy booked her flights in an Internet cafe in India with an Irish Credit card.

Thanks, but I want to buy the Air Deccan flight because it is much cheaper...I can book all the other airlines online without using an agent
I haven't found an agent in Vancouver that books Air Deccan
& No, I don't have an American Express
I would rather book online in India if I can and avoid the agent's fee. But if it still doesn't work online in India then I'm going to have to go through agent there I guess.

If you have American Express, you can book your ticket while in Canada using your home computer.

You can also go to Main Street in Vancouver and buy Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines tickets from one of the Indo-Canadian travel agents using Visa, MC or any other card.

Travel agents in India do not sell Air Deccan tickets. You will have to buy the ticket at the airport.

I've had no trouble buying Air Deccan tickets with my UK credit card, so it looks like the assumption that you have to be in India is correct.

As for ease of ticket purchase; Air Deccan are similar in concept to the cheap UK airlines such as Ryan Air and EasyJet. To keep costs down they cut out middle men and rely on internet booking, and buying at the airort for those without internet access or credit cards. However, some agents in India do sell Air Deccan tickets. They just use the internet like anyone else though.
