Air Deccan: Delhi to Kullu can cost more than Rs.6000!

And they said Air Deccan is a budget airline! They seem to be taking full advantage of the fact that they are the only airline flying this route. I saw this story and was surprised. I checked on Air Deccan website for a fare one month down the line and it showed Rs.6,474 for 9th May! That is two times an Air Deccan ticket for a flight from Delhi all the way to Bangalore tomorrow(It showed Rs.2,974)!

The cheapest tickets I saw for Kullu was priced at Rs.2,974.

But they still seem to be doing good business, as tomorrow's tickets were all sold out!

I can't blame them for taking advantage of the supply/demand situation. However, it is a lousy airline in many ways. Most travel agents and many travel portals have stopped dealing with them, because of the headache such dealings bring. Some competition on this sector will be good for the consumer.

They are not the only Airline flying this route, what about Jagson Airlines? http://www.jagsonairline.com/
However saying that i didn't have a great experience with them, they cancelled the flight back to Delhi overnight in perfect weather conditions, even though they had confirmed the flight the previous evening, they said due to technical difficulties which i think meant technically i was the only person who'd bought a ticket so they just cancelled! Luckily i'd allowed an extra day to get back to Delhi because i suspected this would happen.
One thing to bear in mind though is the fact that the flights to Bhuntar are on much smaller planes & not as popular as B'lore etc
so if they can't fill the seats then it's just not viable, they are doing this to make money remember! KK
