| aerosol cans I have a friend who said that when he and his father fly in and out of India they are not able to bring any aerosol canned products on the flight, regardless if it is in the checked or carry on luggage. Can anyone confirm this because I just bought several cans of bug spray that are in the aerosol cans and I would like to keep them as they are 8 bucks a can. |

| I've had aerosol deodorant taken from me on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. It was returned in Delhi. Now I use roll-on. |

| Check with your airline (Air India, if I reemember correctly) if it is a prohibited item. According to the Fedral Aviation Administration the newer cans that do not use flamable gases as propellents are allowed, "Due to environmental concerns, the aerosol cans now manufactured for consumer use utilize a mixture of propane, butane and isobutane for propellants in lieu of the non-flammable gases previously used. Passengers are not prohibited from transporting such aerosol cans by the applicable hazardous materials rules, and they have become so widely used by the general public that a high percentage of the pieces of checked baggage contain at least one aerosol can." But then Air India is known to make up their own rules.. |

| Bug Dope I packed 4 cans of bug dope in the side pockets of my backpack when I flew from Los Angeles to Delhi this past October on Thai International Airlines. I have flown with multiple cans (as many as 8) of insect repellent over a dozen times. Once an airline requested me to repack my bag so that no more than two cans were in the same pocket. I spread the cans out into three different bags that trip. Insect repellent spray MUST be in your checked baggage. |

| Don't Let the Bedbugs Bite! Railroading across the India/Pakistan border from Lahore to Amritsar in 1983, I had Pakistanis tell me that the fleas were from India and Indians tell me that the fleas were from Pakistan. My bug dope took care of all of the fleas. There was one hotel room in Lahore that I refused because of the bloody handprints on the wall above the bed. I could imagine an alternative future other than that bed. |

| Yes, they will return it--the only problem is finding the desk and waiting in line somewhere just outside customs. I've never had anything NOT returned, though I have abandoned some batteries just so I didn't have to wait for them. Give it shot. It's always possible that it will not be taken out of your bags at all . . . |
