This thread about an organisation in the Netherlands might be of interest to you. Another of the threads about bringing dogs back to the UK has a lot of useful information about transportation.

I'm not so sure, people do get awfully sniffy if you give your children away or have them neutered.

A web search on +honden +invoer (to others: +dogs +import), while a little complicated as it will lead to many sites on taking pets from NL to elsewhere, will lead you to among others: http://www.licg.nl/wcs/lcg/nl/3830/i...-per-land.html . Which will tell you you'd still best enquire with your embassy and stuff about it for the latest stipulations.

Some other handy sites/pages I found in getting there:

ps A search for +huisdieren +invoer (+pets +import) likewise makes sense of course. Toggle around with the word "import," or add Nederland or something, at will.

Some more links:

http://www.schiphol.nl/OpSchiphol/Ba...rMeeOpReis.htm

http://www.expatfocus.com/expatriate...s-holland-pets (Info in English.)
http://www.rotterdam-airport.nl/nl/h...checken/Dieren

Bottom line of course would seem to be all of this can only give an indication and you never know how accurate or up-to-date it is, so contacting your embassy or appropriate ministries* and your airline company, and preferably well in time and as all those sites state, will be in order.

Good luck with it.

* To find your way around the quagmire of Dutch officialdom, this isn't a bad portal: http://overheid.nl/ .

You may be familiar with the Startpagina (start page) phenomenon, there's very little that there isn't a start page on. Try the "dieren" (animals) page at http://dieren.startpagina.nl/ , or search around there for other related pages.

You certainly should, now it's just a matter of finding out how. I mean it is allowed, and people bring in their pets all the time. Calling/mailing a Dutch vet (or any of those organizations above) would be another good start, you'll probably find them on that animals start page above. (You can read Dutch I have so far assumed?)

Happy holidays back Let us know how puppy arrived. That should be one more happy creature!

ps That English expats site above advises to contact for instance KLM Cargo for details, at http://www.af-klm.com/cargo/b2b/wps/portal/b2b/. At a glance it's a horribly arranged and non-informative site, however to contact them would be a good idea. You don't need to fly with them, they should know about regulations, and they run the animal shelter at Schiphol Airport (for traveling pets and other animals, you guessed it).

You will need to have the animal’s rabies immunity verified by titter; this is a blood test that can only be performed by the Pasteur institute in Paris. Blood has to be taken by a vet 3-6 weeks after vaccination. The dog MUST be chipped at the same time as, or before the blood test [chip number goes with the blood sample and comes back on the certificate].
After successful test result, you have to WAIT 6 MONTHS from the date that the sample was taken [not the date the test was performed or that you were notified].
There is 1 vet in Goa who can do this, I guess the Dutch consulate will know one in Delhi.
My point being; START NOW!
There are NO work arounds or shortcuts. If you want to keep the dog, you’ll have to work out how to stay longer, or have him sent after you.
If you arrive in the Netherlands without the titter certificate, they will be bound by EU rules to destroy the dog!!!

Hm. When I was reading around on it, the info seemed to indicate if the animal isn't duly vaccinated and chipped and whatever else may be required, it will/can/may be quarantined upon arrival until it is, Mark?

Again though, stipulations will be likely to change all the time. Hence all those sites urging you to make the necessary arrangements and with the appropriate authorities and well in time, indeed. I think with all the org.'s and sites provided here, anyone wanting to bring an animal into NL should be well on their way.

Sorry for the late reply, I was traveling the past two weeks and had poor access to internet.

Please find attached the rules and regulations to bring a dog to the Netherlands. It is in Dutch but if I ever get time I will translate it into English.

With regards to the rabies, for the Netherlands you have to wait 4 months but for the UK and Ireland 6 months. Puppies under 3 months can be brought in without vaccinations into the Netherlands.

In Goa the vet who chips is Marlyn Estibeiro in Porvorim.

I highly recommend you contact Stichting Aai (www.stichtingaai.nl) which is involved in bringing dogs from abroad to the Netherlands (and other European countries). Marion Rikken runs the organisations, comes to India quite frequently and has brought dogs from here to the Netherlands so she can give you first hand advice.

Good luck and let us know how things went.
