Hi, Quick question. You have been traveling with dog for 21 years, from where? Is there any problem getting back into your country? I am UK based but my dog will be fully vacinated.

I am relocating to New Delhi for a couple of years and would like to take my youngest dog (older one is not upto it). I am worried about ending up with dog in quarrantine for 6 months on return to UK. I would very much like some further information on how you can carry out the quarrantine period in India. You may be the answer to my problems. Sean. |

If you go back to the UK your dog will have to go 6 months into quarantine if you have been in India no matter what vaccinations it has had. To my knowledge there are no exceptions.

My information was for folks going to or through the UK on their way to India
We decided to go Air India through Frankfort to avoid any trouble.
We did the USDA stuff, but when we arrived in the middle of the night in Mumbai, I talked to one of the porters and said "get me, my son and all my animals through customs and I'll give you 500 rupees." His eyes bugged out and we were through customs faster than you could say "Welcome to Mumbai". :-) Your dog will have to go through quarantine coming back from India, absolutely. A friend of mine just had to undergo the process. It's not bad, the place was clean and she was able to bring familiar items to keep her dog comfortable and she visited every day. The dog wasn't particularly stressed out, but she certainly wanted to come home. I see it as you have two choices... 1) Leave your beloved pet with a trusted friend until you return, or 2) Realize that your beloved pet will be going through the quarantine when you return. It's up to you to decide what is best for your dog. You know him/her best and understand which will be less stressful for them. All the best with your decision. :-)

I travelled with my furry baby from India to the U.S. She was traumatized by the journey and fine. No quarantine. Americans love animals. God bless them.
I returned home after 5 years and had 2 furry babies. Orignal from India and an American boy(Husky). No quarantine in India either. P.S- I love the Indian vets. |
