Hi Noodle,
Thanks again for the nice comments. 300 I can not see that happening but one or two more if they happen to come on my path, why not. Although it is less likely where we live now. I am (and the dogs) are lucky with a large garden and lots of space around to walk them. They have a great time chasing anything that moves from lizards and frogs to squirrels, rats and the occasional cow and chicken (not so happy about the last two). Generally they get on very well as long as there are no bones in sight .On Kruimel we indeed tried homeopathy, aryurvedic, did endless tests, fed him on everything and nothing but to no avail. In a few instances made it worse. At some time he was almost completely bold! Lucky he does not scratch and seems not to be bothered by it. By now we figured out that it probably a fungus, does not seem contagious (thank God). We are now using something called spectrazol which works but for how long remains to be seen. The vet says it is psychosomatic! Ugly has fits but does not appear to be in pain. Wrinkles has pain but is a very difficult dog to take to the vet; he does not trust anybody. The vet thinks it is old injuries but I am not so sure because it comes and goes. X-rays is a good idea will try that. Thanks for the suggestion. ![]() |

It will be difficult to x ray a dog that doesn't trust vets and doctors etc. How to keep him still on the x ray table? Is he more painful when it's cold? That would point to arthritis. My female one gets painful joints in the winter, then I put an extra blanket for her to sleep on and so far that has helped avoid it or keep it to a minimum. Massage helps her to.
It's often not easy to diagnose animals correctly especially if they are so scared of the procedures. I had to anesthetize my cat once just to get a blood sample. Can't do that all the time!

Oh bahut sundar hai, gorgeous - does he say 'miiittthhuuu!' like a true Indian parrot?
I used to have a sweet Senegal Parrot, Lani, who passed away this past October... I wish I could post her photo, but it's not on the Web. Someday when I am more settled down I want to get another parrot, preferably an Indian species like a Moustache Parakeet or a Ringneck like Willie - they are so beautiful! I miss birdie sounds when I walk in the door... ![]()
