Reliable Dog Breeeder
Reliable Dog Breeeder
Our Dachshund passed away a couple of days back, due to paralysis, which spread all over her body, we tried everything to save her, but sadly we lost her.
We are dog lovers and would like to have another Dachshund, but we want to make sure we only pick up a pup from a dog breeder who takes care of his dogs, and have a history of healthy dogs, where issues of spinal paralysis and defects have been breeded out to a large extent.
Again due to our recent loss, it is more important for us to have a healthy and good natured and we really dont care if the dog is a showstopper or not.
So can anyone recommend a good breeder/ owner (in delhi, ncr) who loves dogs, is ethical about how he treats his dogs, is knowledgable, and does not run puppy mills.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, responsible breeders do not exist. As long as daily thousands of dogs are euthanised in shelters because there are not sufficient homes available all breeding should be considered animal cruelty. For every pup purposely bred another is murdered in a shelter.
This is besides the fact that breeding is cruelty in itself as it promotes all kinds of inherited problems (as you have seen yourself).
Why do not you try to adopt one from a shelter. We get occasionally dachshunds, I am sure other shelters do as well. You may need some more time to find a dachhund but you will feel very good about having saved a life.
Alternatively, you could consider one of the many gorgeous local dogs available who have none of the inherited problems that breeding brings. There are various websites including:
http://www.friendicoes.org (Delhi based and the site has several pedigree dogs including a lovely old Spaniel).

At least have a look!

The time will come when men will look upon the murder of animals as they look upon the murder of men.
Thanks Birds, for your reply. I have had pets all my life, however this loss was particularly bad, as the dog was my responsibility not my parents, and she was treated no less than my child. We tried everything, moved from one vet to another.
I know you have mentioned about adopting from a shelter, in an ideal world I would. However with a reputable breeder (I am sure there someone somewhere), I could save some heartbreak, if I could find a pup who wont or have lesser chances of having a hereditary problem.
Having said that I will certainly look at the shelters you have referred to, and thank you for sending those links
