Puppy looking for owner: Goa or beyond (north?)

Hello all!

I picked up the cutest, most affectionate puppy (about a month old) in Gokarna and have been carting her around for a few days now, but I'm allergic and can't keep her. I'm in Goa right now, but I'm willing to bring her somewhere else (I'm headed north next). I went to an Animal Rescue Center here, but I seriously doubt any Indian families are going to adopt her, and I'd like to know she's found a good home. If you or anyone you know is interested, please please email me at meblair@gmail.com and we'll figure something out. I'll take care of all the vaccinations. Thank you so much.

Blair

Hi,

Nice of you to take care of the pup.

Please put an advert in the local newspapers (Harald and Navin Times). It will only cost about Rs.100 depending on the number of words you use. There is a small sub-office (in a shop) in Calungute very near the round-about (it is a low, blue painted building where they sell newspapers and groceries, opposite a shop selling sandels. if you ask anybody around where to buy newspapers they will probably show you).

In my experience you are likely to get about 20 replies from which you have to pick the best one. To chose is the right one is not so easy but there are many genuine animal lovers in Goa and if you put some time in it you will find a good home.

If all fails bring the pup to the GSPCA in Porvorim, they are a little less crowded than Animal Rescue. But keep in mind that both organisations are inundated with pups and other strays and, unfortunately, have to put down many animals (sometimes at a rate of 30 a day!!) and the chance your pup will be among them is far from remote.

So, if you really care, try the newspaper route and you will be surprised how well it works.
