on boiled or cooked meat - never feed animals the bones from any cooked meat. the bones of cooked meat splinter when cracked and can cause big problems on either the way in or the way out. sometimes, surgery is necessary. raw bones are a different matter as they don't shatter into shards. they are good for teeth, health and make a longer and more interesting meal than woofing down a can in two seconds. I get 1kg of chicken necks for 25 roops.

Exclamation ouch!

harsh penalty for China's EX-food and drug chief.....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070710/...inted_products

"In North America earlier this year, pet food containing Chinese wheat gluten tainted with the chemical melamine was blamed for the deaths of dogs and cats.

Since then, U.S. authorities have turned away or recalled toxic fish, juice containing unsafe color additives and popular toy trains decorated with lead paint...."

It was just on TV too.

I'm not for the death penalty but think it's good China is acting harshly.

I am also against the death penalty and certainly in cases like this.
The guy in charge appears to be singled out to make a statement. Apparently it is a well known secret that lots of government officials at all levels are involved in shady food production.
Instead of the dead penality I would like to see procedures put in place which prevent and control, ideally on both sides; China and the receiving countries. But that would involve a huge change of mind set and culture which is unlikely to happen any time soon. So we are probably going to have a dead guy plus contaminated products.

Didn't the article say something about America having stopped the import of certain products?

(I will read it again later.)

Toxines have also been found in counterfeit Sensodyne toothpaste in the UK, suspected to come from China. I know this is very off topic, but since we have been discussing China's antics here and there are many UK based readers ...

Here's the BBC link

And here's an article about China's response to all the recent allegations, including the tainted pet food:
