Pet birds in India
Is there a trade in India of birds that have been bred (in captivity) as opposed to caught in the wild and sold of as pets. Do any pet enthusiasts do this on small scale anywhere in India, something akin to the sale of bred African Grey parrots or budgies/canaries in the west. This question follows on from Nicks comment about Mynah birds as good talkers and the only way to train a bird (mynahs or Greys etc) is to get a bird from birth and bond it with a human and Mynahs and Greys who are predisposed to human language will learn it that way.

I have always found the best human language experts are... well... humans and you may be better off finding yourself a wife (or husband) than fiddling with the natural traits of animals. Mrs G can also clean her own cage. Supporting the trade in bred animals is never as unfettered by ethical issues as it may first appear. PS - or I have two Koels that you can have. |
