Moving with 5 cats!!

I'm planning a major move to mumbai, that i'm projecting will last for at least three years. it's actually three of us moving out there, and between us we have five cats. They are total indoor cats, and i've looked into natural sedatives for the trip. Lots of threads on dogs none on cats.....any advice out there?

What project is this of you kids? A Canadian exodus with a Noah ark type tilt to it?

Hi Canuck! Welcome to IM! If I remember correctly, there was a member named ** jeanneleez ** who moved to Calcutta with a cat and dog. Here's the thread (even though it mentions dog in the subject there is some info on experiences with traveling to India wth cats):
Taking a dog to India?

Best of luck

Although good meant this advice is not good. Three Canadians with no job in India but 5 cats.
Why not find somebody in Canada to take good care of them???

I think this plan is ridiculous.

oh and were going to have tons of money saved up for the initial move so don't be too worried about us

whats your name again ? anyhhow,

a. India is not a place cats are loved as much
b. There are threads for bringing in pets (cats n dogs both wil be treated the same way)
c. Pets can get lost if you do not have direct flight to Mumbai.I know we all love our pets dearly, so you might jus avoid any such small mishap.

You decide now... laughing is actually good for your cats health too !

Saira

cats aren't particularly loved where i live either
i would never let them out of the flat, as i never do here also (sort of a super protective mom)
the last remark about them getting lost worries me.....i'd cause a bloody riot if that even came close to happening

3 Noas, 5 cats in an ark. I can just pucture it.
Keep the ark moored somewhere in Mumbay, at least you have accomodation for free.

As I was posting a reply to your thread about work, it occurred to me to wonder about what your status would be here.

If you are coming here, at least initially, on tourist visas, do be sure that that allows you to import animals: it may not.
