the killing of any wild animal is pretty much protected in India under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. You should google it.

There's a nice article in the Times of India stemming from the Salman Khan case on the present laws regarding hunting in India. Specifically - the usage of hounds for hunting, in most countries is more of a state or provincial game legislation. With that in mind and because of the implementation of the protection act of 1972, this hunting method could, today, only have the slight possibility of existing within the boundaries of Jammu & Kashmir.

Not that i have ever hunted anything, but i liked the idea of a localy caught lunch. I would eat fish more by choice but up in the hills had a romantic notion of hunting and trapping in the himalayers. I suppose i like venison or deer but not if it is a dengerous species. In the uk and europe there is afair amount of game in the butchers and wildly caught food appeals to me. The wilderness of the mountains with company of hounds and a warm fire after a hard days hunting sort of thing. Just wondered if it was possible, ironicaly a species of himalayan deer is now feral in the uk after escaping from a private estate muntjac i see loads but my dog was scared even though they are quite small. Aside from that i am interested to know if there is much if any deer eaten in india?

Eurasian, Not a chance. The best you can get is probably small game and that too only in remote towns bordering forests.

Hunting with dogs is the best way to get 'hounded' all the way back to GB
