(apologies if I posted this before...)

I saw a water snake on a Kerala backwater. I was sitting in my boat watching it through binoculars. I soon realised that it was watching me! When it started swimming towards me I started to hope I could row faster than it could swim

I was later told that it was not dangerous.

Another time some village people drew our attention to a couple of snakes dancing at the edge of a nearby field. They said not to get too close as these snakes were dangerous.

But one gets too used to city ways (I don't think there are any wild snakes in Chennai). When I was in a village recently I went for a wee in a bush at the side of the road. I was told that I certainly should not have done so, for fear of snakes. I'll remember next time

Ikuru, So that's where he got to! Please send my Godzilla back home: the children miss cuddling up to him at night and taking him out for his morning walk
