Cruelty to dogs Aluva ...update

I wrote a setailed letter to the head priest of the Ashram and am having a copy of the letter sent to the Bishop.

I presented the letter to the priest in person and discussed the contents with him - little response - possibly embarrassment ?

I also had enclose a petition signed by at leat 10 other people .

The priest said he would be in touch tp update me on making an improved area for the dogs so that I could make a contribution ..... OK if something is done .

I hope to continue this battle although I am not in the area now .

I am so glad of the support and advise from all of you who responded ............. as when in India ,with there being so many human welfare issues one can appear rather eccentric "fussing about amimals "

However it is woth noting that this is an educated and travelled man in charge of this Ashram, who should be setting an example to Christian followers .

Please note that the dogs do appear in good enough shape ..

free access to water ,walking and the size of the cages are the issue .
THank you again - I will keep you posted ...........indeed think I will print off your replies to send to the AShram .

Beachsellers..........Please don't forget about these dogs. I had a really restless weekend last week just thinking about them.

I, personally, don't care if you forward my responses to the Ashram....they need a wake-up call on how to treat their animals, and an excellent idea too, sending a copy to the bishop.

Maybe we are eccentric.......but who cares, speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves is NEVER a bad thing.

Good luck, and stay the person you are. Thank you for caring.

Lotusflower, I don't think your tone is warranted. You are not in the position of the op. My impression is that she is dealing with the situation as best as she can. The dogs are by law not hers, she has to deal with their owners and she has gone to great length already to make them listen.

beachsellersdelight, I do hope that you will be able to return to that area and make some more progress. I think what you did was very good already. Don't give up now!

Is there a possibility - since you say the dogs are in good shape - that they do get a walk maybe very early in the mornings and you had not noticed?

And if they wouldn't get enough fluids I don't think you would find them in good shape. Maybe they get a lot of fluids with their food?

Hoping it's not all that bad ... !!

I agree entirely, both as member as mod.

As Mod, I'd request that you don't just shout in this thread; if you do I'll delete the posts.

It is an emotive issue, I understand that. I do not understand the entirely negative reaction.

Lotusflower, I really don't know why you're getting so upset. We are all trying to help the OP in the best way we know how - it would be a bit difficult for me to do anything from the middle of Africa except to try and offer a few suggestions.

I also feel your tone is unwarranted, and I do take exception to it - especially saying that I don't want to help these animals. If I had no interest in them, I certainly would not have responded to this thread.

Actually, I never said it's NOT a good idea, I just pointed out that it won't help in the long run cause that guy will probably get new dogs. But I did applaud your idea, just go back to page one and check.

Now, THAT was Priya. You can't just treat us as one person, can you?

On page one I also asked you:

Quote:
Lotusflower, who would you recommend to contact, which organisations?
and you never answered that. Because I have contacted dozens of animal welfare organisations, international ones and Indian ones, about a similar matter of abused animals here in Pune and nobody is doing anything! And what have you done???

So maybe, Lotusflower, instead of sitting there smug in Yogoslawia or Germany or whereever you are and shouting over the Internet, why don't you come to India and start dealing with such a problem. You will find it's next to impossible to do anything, cause animals have no rights here, it's all up to the owner.

What the OP of this thread did was commendable, couragous and the right thing to do.

But maybe you want to come down here and start a revolution and get yourself imprisoned?

Jesus, get off your high horse attitude already!

I'm really getting pissed here, sorry. Hate it when people who have no experience try to criticise others for not doing anything.

Is it time to tidy up this thread and edit out the quarrels?

No more.

Please.

Which is why I'm confused with your posts. Priya never said anything like that.

But Nick is right. I withdraw from this thread.

Well Lotus-Flower I think you've succeeded..........Nick's right.....Two of us have now withdrawn from this thread, and our only fault was trying to help the OP, not cause a fracas.

Sorry Nick.

Om shanti.

I have edited the thread and removed the quarrelling.

It is a blunt instrument, and I expect I didn't get it all. Inevitably also some of the replies will now make less sense.

Lotus-Flower, if you start it again I'll close your account.

I have come to this thread after the editing. I am not interested in the skirmish but I am interested in the dogs. Please excuse me if I have missed something that has been edited out.

I am now in Cochin long-term and would be very happy to pursue this matter if someone would like to provide me with the details. At the very least, I can check on the current situation. In a former incarnation I was a vet nurse [which I never wrote in my list of incarnations].

It must be difficult for people to take me seriously - what with the photo and all but I'M SERIOUS!

Tell me about the situation and I will pursue it.

Nick - tell them I am serious.
