Do dogs have to do quarantine?

Hi all,
I am moving from Barcelona to Bangalore in May. I have 2 french bulldogs (around 11kg each) and I cannot leave them behind.

I have been trying to get a straight answer but no one seem to be able to. DO DOGS HAVE TO DO QUARANTINE WHEN ARRIVING IN INDIA?

If yes, for how long? Where can I get info regarding the process?

Please can someone shed someone be so kind to clarify this for me.

Thank you very much!

Not that I have ever heard of --- but do read as many of the threads here (and anything from anywhere) on the experiences of those who have brought animals to India.

Anyway, I haven't done it, and only know what I have read here, so, apart from saying 'Hello and Welcome' --- I'll pass you over to the next person

My read of the threads is no. I think you usually need a rabies certificate but don't know if that is ever checked.

Note that down below will be some of the lengthy threads on just such..

You certainly should have your animals inoculated against rabies; that is vital, for their sake and for your safety too.

No quarantine in India.

Reg Pet Relocation to India

Hi Ricardo,

Welcome to Bangalore India.

With regards to your query, there is no quarantine in India. However there needs to be a temporary permit which needs to be obtained before the pet is air shipped from the point of origin. The pet needs to be sent to the quarantine centre on arrival for inspection and would be cleared the same day or the next day.

You may check out the below link where there is an FAQ on Pet relocation and you may also request for a online free quote for end to end pet relocation. there are other movers also like Crown Relocations.

Regards, Raghu

To the OP: Last I heard the airport in Bangalore does not allow pets to go through the airport (on either incoming or outgoing flights). When the new airport opened this rule was put into effect and I have not heard any convincing data to refute this (though I have heard antecodotal evidence to the contrary). You can read a bit about it here. I have not been able to get any additional information (I am leaving Bangalore to return home to the US with the 2 cats that I adopted here) so I have decided to not take any chances and will fly from Chennai instead (animals are accepted at this airport as well as in Calcutta, Mumbai and Delhi). All the best.

Hi Ricardo,

I was just going through this old post. Just wanted to check if you got the required info from the agent i referred as it would be helpful for others as well. When are you moving finally?
