couldnt monkeys be trained to scout hostage situations

they are trained in the states to act as helpers to severly disabled people. I would think with a head camera and night vision a monkey could be trained to climb up the outside of buildings and look in windows or crawl through tight spaces, just a thought. Maybe cruel? But possible in emrgency type situations as a secret weapon. Also small uav's with cameras are usefull for the seige type stand off.

Not reliable enough I am afraid.

Dolphins are used to plant magnetic mines on ships and can be trained to attack divers (enemy).
dogs were used to carry explosives and sent to the enemy lines and then blown up.
But monkeys are not brave........ they would run
Remember the pictures...smoke , fire , gunshots, explosions and the smell of the dead and dying.......... they would not perform their task.

The best bett is the multi use roving platform.
Its a bit like a high tech boys dream..... remote controlled undercarriage with cameras , arms and or weapons mounted.

The are used for bomb disposal in Iraq......... I liked using them..they kept me out of harms way.
The newest generation is used as a moblie weapons carrier.

They are expensive though and when you see the equipment a lot of soldiers/police in india are carrying.......

You mean the older guns they have? There has been some talk of the age of their weaponry. I saw some ancient looking machine guns the side loading magazine type but i think they are produced under licence in india so are quite new and function as they should though their design is old a bullets a bullet right? I think in india they like to produce most of their own stuff like rifles and alot of which are older british designs allbeit updated perhaps. I didnt see any commando's with night vision but i suppose thay wouldnt put them on untill inside in the dark. But still i didnt see any attached to the nsg helemets. Perhaps the terrorist had night vision? and the nsg not, we'll find out i am sure as more news comes out.

read up on sterling smg's and still made in india including silencer version. Apparently very good close range weapon and i would imagine is still in use i saw from pictures of world army games last year some soldiers has them. UK only replaced them with other stuff in 88 and apparently wasnt such a good decision SA80 notorious unreliable ect. Big city like Mumbai should have atleast 30-100 smg equipped commando's stationed at air port sea port city centre ect esp with recent threats and past bombings all over india. However hard to say how to preepare but peninsular nature of town made sea access danger point and wide open from defence. Shame navy never picked up on missing trawler and other clues given in news. Also head of anti terror described as armed only with service revolver. Rapid reaction force and vigilance at all times. I think some developments in home security will come out of this, like each major city having own nsg like contingency force. Though India has lots of borders many porous it is a populous nation and has the manpower and the will to protect from land and sea as well as air.

dogs are usefulll for explosives detection and should be deployed at all railway station major hubs like mumbai and i would like to see (or not see) plain clothes anti terror police at all major public locations under threat. I still think monkeys could be trained in anti terror operations, however cruel it may be , dogs can be trained for battle hardiness so could monkeys i believe. This would be an expendable asset.

I am a fully qualified NATO dog handler and EOD operator with 27 years of experience.I have worked on almaost every continent and alot of crisis areas.....believe me

Life is NOT Hollywood and there is no Bruce Willis out there.
People really die when they are shot, or hit or blown up.
Animals ( well trained AND guided) are only a SMALL tool; in the whole picture

What you suggest ist absolutely unfeasable
