Indeed they are. Or can be.

And did you know that Peacocks (Peahens) are related to chickens?

Update on Chickens: They turned out to be Ducks!

The preschool staff never did get the chickens they wanted though I'd given the "go ahead." We got busy with Grand Opening and other matters.

But last week I got an email letting me know that they had adopted three DUCKS from a fellow who could no longer feed them. So..we have fowl...eggs...and now need a Duck Tent!

Yes, exactly why we like IM

If I ever can I would like to keep chickens too. My current dogs we eat them (they ate the neigbour's chickens ) but I know not all dogs do.

Friends have a dog which picks up chickens that stray off the compound really carefully with his mouth and than brings them back inside where we would put them back on their feet. The chickens did not seem to mind too much as they keep completely quite during the short trip in the dog's mouth and than happily continue picking seeds in the compound.

Good luck with the chickens.

We had one like that. Came home once after getting out of the pen with a policeman in tow...and feathers still protruding from his mouth. He got the chicken, we got the fine.

Sorry, missed that last link. But I like ducks too.

I think it is great that your school adopted these ducks. I would say it is double victory; the ducks have a new, good home and the school the benefits of having animals around.

Lots of studies have indicated that it is very good for children to be around animals. Especially children (and adults) with difficulties to relate to the world around them seem to benefit.

So good luck with the ducks!
