Can 2 dogs be taken to India by 1 pasenger?
My wife has to take 2 of our dogs from USA to Bangalore. Will she be allowed to enter Bangalore City with 2 of them? I heard that 1 passenger is allowed to enter with only one pet......is that true? Serious reply requested.....Thank you!

Ask the airline.
I would hope you are getting a specialist to do the shipping, anyway, so ---ask them. They should know their job if they are worth using. Personally I feel that one passenger should subject NO animal to the ordeal of flying. Browse/search for other pets/India threads: quite a lot here.

you need to
get an import licence for the two dogs and show that they are pets and not being imported for commercial sale. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade put out a policy clarification which allows pet gods to be imported in December (for my benefit, when I was bringing in our dog from the uk). You need rabies jabs, pet passport if you have, certificate from home country vet on vaccinations, and to have your vet complete an import form which you can download from the web.
best is to take advice from the govt vet at delhi airport, Dr Khosla on +91 11 25063272. good luck! |

A bit like the days that India insisted on foreign residents taking AIDS tests, while ignoring the incidence of the disease among its own population. |

Reminds me of a typical scene from the Phantom comics:
Phantom is about to board the plane, and is stopped by the flight crew: " Sir You cant take a dog inside the cabin!" Phantom: "Its not a dog, its a wolf." bewildered stewardess: "Er.. but you cant take wild animals in!" Phantom: "He isnt wild - he is my best friend" and moves in to take his seat. Oh, such uncomplicated life the Comic book heroes had! Sorry to be O/T - just remembered... |
