bully kutta dogs in india

i am interested in this breed and finding a specimin when in india anyone know a breeder or someone who has one? They are big dogs traditionaly bred as a gaurd dog. Some say they are molasser types remnance of the greeks fighting dogs, there is also some admixture with british bull dogs but my inclination is to believe they are an ethnic breed. They were and are popular fighting dogs in pak and afghanstans though that is not my interest and i abhore this use of dogs. Looks a bit like a big labrador with a mastif head and noble gate. Thanx to any replies.

Sindh was the epicenter for these beasts from the east.

I really hope you are not serious!

There are sufficient dogs in India that do not have homes, every day thousands are killed in the shelters because nobody bothers with them.

There is no need to stimulate breeding by buying pups. As soon as people think they can make money with living beings it is almost inevitably followed by suffering and dumping on 'unsuitable' pups.

Description fits that of the Bhutia/Gaddi too - mountain sheep dogs who are ferocious and intensely loyal.

Had one in the family called Kaalu (infamous and was on the police records)...current one is totally black (rare amongst bhutias) and is called Bhaalu.

Youasian is no longer with us on IM. I think the mods should close the thread as it has lost its relevance.

You see! Again a poor pedigree dog ending up miserably in the pound because people who so much wanted it, couldn't handle it or changed their minds. How many need to suffer, how many need to be killed before people realise that buying pedigree animals perpetuates suffering?

Yeah, good idea to close the thread.

lot of strays in bangalore dont look like the run-of-the-mill strays.
and they're vicious too - numerous maiming-attacks on kids.
stray dogs are normally not violent creatures.

the face and fur resembles a german shepherd and the body is short and long - not exactly a dachshund, but similar.
i believe cross breeding gone awry is the cause - and hence the vicious temperament as well.
[dont have the energy to google for the document/report]

oh well...

Very true. Normally a stray is not aggressive because they know how to deal with the circumstances. The onces that are, are indeed often mixes of German Sheppards and Dobermans.

In the west we have gone through a similar development but with pittbulls. Many people wanted pittbulls but could not handle them and dropped them on the road. In several European countries we now see that many shelter dogs are aggressive breeds/mixes, most totally unadoptable.

India has much worse to look forward too if they do not start controling breeding and organise garbage control. And, of course, if the shit hits the fan, people will blame the dogs!
