Bombay: Who can take a cat for a year (all paid)?

Hi!

Another urgent case:

a couple in Bombay is going away for a year. They have a cat which they don't want to give to a shelter or simply leave on the street.

They are looking for a person who is willing to take the cat in for a year. They will pay all expenses (food, vet etc). They want to take the cat back when they return.

They are desperate cause they will leave in two weeks.

Pl pn me, I will get you in touch with them.

What price a pets life?

Start checking out the available Animal Welfare Trusts now. They may know someone interested/able to help you.- probably for a fee.

She just called me. They are not sure what to do.

Max, the cat, could stay in the Animal Farm shelter here in Pune, but they are worried that he might run away.

Another woman who is prepared to take him has dogs - and Max is no fan of dogs (attacks them).

They would take Max with them but the problem is that they are going to the UAE for a year and they require certain tests to be done (proof the cat has no rabies and other diseases) which are simply not done in India! That woman has been calling many institutes all over India to find one that performs these tests, but no luck. They found one in Australia but the tests would take weeks and they are leaving very soon.

They are in a pickle ... I would love to take Max, but I too have dogs, which will not accept another cat, neither will my cats. (We tried before.)

Hi Noodle,

I asked my cat friend and she can lodge the cat for a year but she charges Rs.100 per day so it would become a bit costly. This would include all food and basic vetinary cost etc. As I explained before she has some very nice catteries set in a beautiful garden. If this is of interest let me know.

At the moment internet is a nightmare here so I may be a bit slow with responding.

Hope this will help them to get the tests done.

I think for taking care of the cat the best option is to approach college students [who need money to spend] or even vet college students might be the better option.

Dear Mohana,

I am sorry I did not get back to you earlier. We have had lots of trouble with internet here so I did not visit the India Mike forum.

As mentioned the cat could be fostered in Goa for a year but there are cost involved. I will PM you the number of the lady you can contact regarding this.

With regards to the dog, that is even more difficult. However I know of a very nice place in Delhi were they can look after dogs for longer periods. It is a farm house were during the night the dogs stay in a large enclosure (about the size of a large room) and during the day they can play and swim in the huge garden which has a pond. The guy who runs it is very good with dogs but like with the cat there is a cost. I will be PMing you the contact person as well.

I am sorry I can not help with free cost care.
