We're close enough to the shore here in K.P. that we can still count on the seabreeze to cool us down and haven't had to resort to the a/c. It's nowhere close to what I grew up with in South Carolina, which comes a little bit closer to Delhi temps.

I'd love a report on Wongdhen House, especially accessibility to the rest of the city. I'm planning a trip to Rewalsar (also in Himachal Pradesh) for next March but will be spending several days in Delhi tracking down some medical supplies.

funny you're in kp. i didn't expect to post to someone within a 10mi radius of me. we headed to newcastle commons for dinner to catch the breeze.
i'll be in dharamsala for three weeks and then to wongdhen house on 5/6 July. i'll give you an update when i return in mid-July.

ps w/i two hours of installing the a/c and having it on, the rain blew in briefly and cooled everything down. figures . .

And don't worry about this. Riding in an auto-rickshaw in Delhi traffic, you won't feel anything like as "cut off" as you would going from one AC place to another in your AC car in Houston! In fact, you might end up wishing you were more cut off!

Just a heads up on McLeod Ganj (Dharamsala) weather. It will not be hot like Delhi there. Expect t-shirt weather during the day and you will need a light jacket during the evening. McLeod Ganj is at 1700 metres above sea level so the weather is very different. If you are taking the bus up from Delhi bring a jacket on the bus with you as you will want one by about 4:00am. Also bring a rain jacket or better yet a long plastic rain cape as the monsoon is on its way. When it rains up there it pours.
Wongdhen House is a great place to stay and don't be hard on yourself if you don't get out in Delhi much. Delhi weather is brutal at this time of year. There are some great historical sites near Dharamsala that you might want to check out. They are in the LP guide book.
I'll look forward to a post on your experiences. Have fun.

Further to my earlier post , my apologies for giving the wrong metro station. The nearest metro station which is 2 kms away is indeed Delhi University. It was a genuine typo. Sorry.

Cardinal Divide--
Thanks for the update on Dharamsala weather--have been checking it all week and noticed a large variance 90/55. Was tempted not to bring a fleece, but guess I'll need one.
Also thanks for suggesting I check out LP on Dharamsala. I had only bought LP for Delhi Agra and Rajasthan since I'm going to be in a volunteer program for three weeks in Dharamsala--I'll only have one weekend to get out (any recommendations?).

To Amalfi: pls don't apologize--that's what this forum is created for: to give and receive information and by chance errors are made, someone else will likely flag the mistake and save the recipient going off course.
