Earthquake in Delhi

Delhi was rocked by a series of earthquakes just now which lasted for almost 5 minutes around 9:20 A. M. My bed was shaking & I heard screams around & couldn’t stand steady. It was a terrible feeling.

Where was the epicenter?.

So, Where was the epicenter?. Any websites where we can get the latest eartquake data. We had a reasonably good quake here, bigger than what we felt during Bhuj. I am not able to find any earthquake site that is close to realtime. Its been 20 minutes and no site shows it yet. Anybody knows of such a site?.

Called my home in Gurgaon in the morning. My mother didn't even notice the tremors.. what was noticed however was that the cable tv network was down..

Today being Saturday, I was sleeping till late and thought my young and naughty nephew was shaking the bed to wake me up. But when I could not see him anywhere, I ran down where my other family members were. We noticed it here in Gurgaon.

Indian news channels are now covering it in some detail.

a quake that big will definitely cause major damage near its epicenter- 75km ENE of Srinigar- especially in sandy valleys due to liquefaction. Expect reports to be delayed due to extent of damage.

My home town lost it's center 16 years ago next week, due to being built on a river bed, with 6 killed there

I'm in Gilgit right now, we felt it pretty heavily this morning for about two minutes. The plan was to head to Skardu this morning, but that region seems to have been one of the worst hit.

My God, that was a big one! I'm afraid bijapuri is right - there's likely to be a lot more damage than has been reported so far. If the epicenter was near Srinagar and it was felt as far away as Delhi ... yikes!!!

And this one was definitely much less moderate in Delhi compared to the Bhuj-Shake. Or may be my apartment is shaky. I atleast woke up, the pigeons in my room didn't have a clue.
