where to stay?

hi**

just wondered whether anyone has any advice/words of wisdom as to great places to stay in delhi?!!
i've been looking at the YMCA Hostel (the one with the swimming pool) near CP and just wondered what other people thought of it?!! it looks like a good place to recover after flights etc and it's centrally located isnt it? hmmmm what do you guys think??? answers on a postcard would be hugely appreciated!!!...my naturally unorganised brain is definately going a tad fuzzy what with all this travel organisation...GA!!!

If you looked around you should have found these nifty Hotel Listings. The Y's have also been extensively covered I think, try a search.

well actually it depends much on how much ur willin to take off from ur pocket ....
paharganj is good if u dont have much money or u want to spend money on other things not on sleep ...i know after a good sleep one feels enegetic bt i m not takin abt it...
now if u wish to stay in a slightly higher ones then make ur move to south delhi ...thats near to airport ...GK, Vasant Vihar are havin 4-5 good motels ....

abt YMCA it is also good ....bt still i have doubt....

Hi,

Dont know about YMCA, but we stayed at YWCA with our family, when we were visiting india two years ago. It was very good, they have very friendly staff and a OK cafeteria (serves meals as well, actually if you keep a good smile and friendly attitude, you can just walk into their kitchen and ask them what ever we want. We had to do this, because our kids could not stand the spicy stuff).

good luck
dan

thanks for all the info everyone - tis much appreciated!!*

we tried to book an A/C room at the YMCA but they're fully booked up for that block, instead they've offered us a 'poolside suite' (?) (?) at Rs 3,740 which includes breakfast and dinner...does anyone know what facilities the 'poolside suite' has as so far they've not replied to my email?

Also...(sorry questions questions)...does anyone know if the YMCA will allow non-guests to use their pool incase we end up staying at the YWCA?...(their website seems to be down so i can't check it out) or indeed where we could possibly go for a swim if we end up staying somewhere else???

Cheers muchly!!

At that budget of approx Rs.4000/= you can get very decent rooms.
In CP try Hans Plaza Hotel next to ABN AMRO bank branch, it is on Barakhamba Road crossing and has a bar on the 16th floor or is it 18th ??
Also, the Nirulas Cornerhouse at CP, Near PVR Plaza cinema had some rooms.
Park hotel opposite the Jantar MAntar should also fit in at that budget.

Here is the Hans hotel site. http://www.hanshotels.com/hans-plaza...lhi/rooms.html.
these are better options to stay in CP than the YMCA or YWCA since they YM/WCA are hostels

Their walking distance from each other, we walked back and forth all the time. Connaught Place is fine. So is Paraganj. There both easy to get to and from. You know best you know, don't let us choose for you.

Search !!!!!!here in the appropriate section for opinions about different hotels and price guides!!!!! There's TONS of places, no need to fret here you're going to be doing this every day once you get there.

Thumbs up Yes both YW/MCA are good locations

Both are Good Central Locations for one to stay in. Paharganj is good too, just for kicks, I mean every traveller to Inida must stay there for a while, just to soak in the spirit.
