Where to go in North Inidia
Hi
I will be travelling in India next year with teenage kids. We have about a week in Delhi region. Any ideas on the best place to visit in Delhi/North india generally. Also, does anyone know of a reasonably priced tour company or guide for trips in the region. Thanks for any help or advice Andy |

Rajasthan/MP wouldnt really be North India however they are both excellent choices.
North India J&K - Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Jammu, Leh/Ladakh etc Himachal Pradesh - Manali, Chamba, Shimla, Dharamshala, McLeodganj, Kullu, Sangla, Kasauli, Chail, Narkanda, kangra, Dalhousie etc (In no particular order) Punjab - Amritsar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mohali, Jalandhar, Pathankot etc Haryana- Kurukshetra, Sonipat (Not many places to see around here to be , honest) Uttaranchal/Uttar Pradesh - Mussoorie, Dehradoon, Almora, Ranikhet, Nainital, Auli, Lucknow etc For a detailed list, Please visit the Forums Homepage (Second link on the Top of this page) and you shall have various states and cities to choose from. Hi Andy,
With only a week, and for the Northern regions, I'd suggest that you look at places like Amritsa (Punjab - Sikh region); Shimla; Dharamsala; Dehradun (all in Himachal Pradesh). They have a strong Tibetan influence. You could get a train from Delhi => Amritsar. Spend a day at the Golden Temple. Take a bus to Dharamsala. Spend a few days there and then return to Delhi & do a couple of tours in the city itself. Tour companies: the only one I know of (personally) for Delhi is the NDTDC (New Delhi Tourist Development Commission). They do 1/2 & full-day tours of the city. Admittedly it's a bit rushed but you get to see the highlights and it's not expensive (when compared with the other companies who offer tours). Cheers Zoltan
