Where to buy a Salwar Kameez?

I'm going on my first trip to India and arrive in Delhi. Where is a good place to buy a Salwar Kamise? I was thinking of just getting a couple simple cotton ones. How much is a reasonable price to pay for one?
I found on here somewhere (I can't find the post again) that if you are 'typical indian size' you can buy premade ones - otherwise you may need to get them altered. How long would alterening take? And is it easy to find a tailor to do that?
What is 'indian' size? I'm usually about a medium - small in our Canadian sizes.... ?

At CP in Delhi, Central Cottage Industries Emporium (Janpath) has them, as well as the various state emporia on Baba Karak Singh Marg, just a short distance away.

There are also several shops on Janpath that carry cheap S-Ks, but they are not very nice ones (muddy colors).

Check out Shankar Market near CP. Some shops out there have great Lucknowi SKs.

if you go to Jaipur or other Rajasthan destinations soon after arrival, get some Rajasthani style ones at a shop in a luxury hotel. Rajasthani style is the nicest one (my taste, and I am a man). Also least use of smelly colors. Generally the best kind of selections for Westerners are available at high class hotel shops.

Atala,

Can you show thumbnail pics of the differences between Rajasthani style sari and other sari? Also ... what exactly IS a "smelly color" -- never heard that term. I'm buying a sari when I arrive in December and wonder if I should get one in Delhi, Jaipur or wait until I get to the location of the wedding in Nagpur.

Thanks

An S.K. is not a saree
see here what it is:

smelly color means the type of color for print used.

I knew that ... I mis-typed. I wanted to know the difference between the Rajasthan S.W. and others. So, does "smelly" mean that the material retains an odor from the dye?

Thanks

I'm dissapointed as thought that smelly was a wonderful description for muddy boring colours.

You can get good salwar kamiz at the SOROZINI NAGAR MARKET.For regular use it is the best buy at the cheapest rate, For a party wear you can go to SOUTHEXTENTION MARKET. pRICE FOR REGULAR ONE IS IN BETWEEN INR 500 TO 1200. For costly one there is no limit

thanks, since I'll be going to rajasthan shortly after, I'll try and get one in Jaipur or something. What is the main difference between the styles?

While I'm not looking to get many, I'd probably like one good one (that I can wear here for any friends weddings/etc) and a couple everyday ones. I'm only there for 5 weeks, so I don't think I'll need that many.

One more thing, what kind of shoes are good to wear. Can they be bought inexpensively? Because I'll be sightseeing/travelling most of the time, I'm hoping for something really comfy - Any suggestions?
