Google for Titan watches. They are among the best brands in India...they have extensive range and exclusive showrooms..very reliable indeed....you can say that Titan is Maruti of watches.

Just google the same and you can find a listing of their showrooms on their site..

Jyotida..I m a watch lover n have picked many watches within the range of 3-7k from shoppers stop as well as Kapoor watch company in south ex and got good brands like fossil, timex, pierre cardin...why I even managed to get a lovely Tommy frm Time Zone in green Park and also a decent Espirit for a frnd this March in the given range...

There is a showroom in Cp for Titan Watches as far as I remember and definetely in South Ex 1...close to Hsbc bank...

You don't have to go to Golemarket to get a watch, I just know there's a watch/clock/mobile shop there that I've been to a couple of times that I like, that will likely be cheaper than CP. I didn't specifically go there to buy a watch the first time- mobile credit I think it was. Anyway, they do have watches for Rs7000, but there's a good range.

I can't remember the name at all, but they are located (Googles like mad....)...OK, if memory serves me correctly, put these co-ordinates into maps.google.com to get the location:
28.632916, 77.207494

I might be one street out, but that's roughly it. There's a small Internet place opposite. Bit random I know cuz there must be loads of little watch places, but that's one I know!

Well after reading all these posts, to me it seems that he will find something in CP - taken note of your shops karuna. Yes, I p)ay a max. of 300 rupees when I buy watches for Mr K - he is forever breaking straps, dropping them etc.so an expensive watch would be totally wasted on him. Timex, Titan and Swatch all good - and I think he can find something cheaper and good for his money in CP.(He's staying near there and doesn't know his way around Delhi too well). The watch is to be a gift for an elderly man he has known a long time in Uttarakhand, and he thinks this would be nice for him. As most have said, not necessary to pay this amount but he said he would pay up to that amount for a good one. I have to add, Mr K's watches keep perfect time at 260 rupees (last one), nothing wrong with it until he breaks the catch or the band or something!

In that case go for an Indian brand like Titan which can be easily repaired/serviced in Uttarakhand.

Casio, Citizen, Timex, the Russian one I can't remember the name...

In Chennai there is a watch shop called P Orr & Sons --- their selection is vast. I have never seen so many watches!

If you friend is willing to hike up his pricerange a bit maybe hell have enough for a wonderful Movado watch.

I went into a few of the watch stores around CP to marvel at them: they are truly beautiful watches, but you'd have to add a bit more to your budget to treat yourself to one! I cracked for the "Ono" design which many of you may have seen featured in the magazine ads. Lovely! Otherwize you could pop down to Palika Bazarre and get a fake lookalike for a couple hundred of rupees!!!!! probably wont have the long life that you're after though...

It has not been poss to exit onto Panchkuian from CC for some years now - the stretch from/to the intersection of Panchkuian and Bangla Sahib Marg upto CC is one-way due to the Metro. The rest of the way to Karol Bagh is only approachable by taking the previous exit, Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, past Shivaji stadium and turn right at the red-light onto Bangla Sahib Mg.
In any case that wud be going out of the way - Gole Market is at the end of SBS Marg, u just go straight.
The nearest metro-stop is still CP.

EDIT:
Aishah, don't know if u still need this - simplest is to catch a scooter or bus going that way. In fact the bus terminal is at the beginning of SBS Marg, right behind Madras Hotel. It's about 3-4 km to Gole Market.

Thanks Dilliwalla - it's still very useful. Both to me and my friend because I can pass on this info to him. As you say, an autorickshaw or bus, would be the go and not satisfactory to go by Metro, this is worth knowing. I think he's pretty much made up his mind to get a Titan - but for myself, Victoria, I shall take a look at Movado, then check out the 'photocopies' as they call cheap replicated items here! I'm also due for a new watch!
