Travelling to Delhi - Agra - Mathura - Vrindavan - Delhi from Kolkata
I'm planning a trip for my mom and dad in Dec 2010. They will be travelling from Kolkata to Delhi by air on 24th of Dec, and then cover Delhi - Agra - Mathura - Vrindavan - and finally back to Delhi on the 3rd of Jan.
The detailed itinerary is as follows -
24th Dec -----------> arrival @ Delhi (evening)
25th Dec -----------> Delhi sightseeing tour
26th Dec -----------> Agra - Fatehpur Sikri
27th - 28th Dec ----> Mathura
29th Dec - 1st Jan -> Vrindavan
2nd Jan ------------> back to Delhi
3rd Jan ------------> return flight (morning)
It might be a bit striking (seemingly a waste of days
), but it is deliberately kept very relaxed since my mom and dad are an aged couple (both 60+), and they also desire to spend a few days at Mathura & Vrindavan.
Now, my doubts (as usual
) are as follows-
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks in advance

- Can I avail of any ITDC or other tourism dept (a/c bus) package - coz I dont want to complete the vehicle booking stuff in advance, and it will also help if mom and dad get a group during their travel.
Any suggestions are welcome!

How and what time do you plan to travel to Agra ?
Agra & Fatehpur Sikri in one day is very very tight.
For Delhi, you may look at www.hohodelhi.com
One suggestion, why not include Bharatpur Birs Sanctuary for one day. It's good at that time.

Thanks for the quick response delhiwala! As you can see from my plan, time is not a problem - I've kept the schedule at a very lazy level. If you suggest the same, I'll readily give +1 day to Agra
Can you [again] help me out with the following -

Thanks once again for your help!

Can you [again] help me out with the following -
- How do I travel to "Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary"? Any organized trips from Delhi?
- I've heard from many people that Mathura / Vrindavan are very dirty cities - and people have strictly told me not to spend too much time there. But my mom and dad are insisting on a longer stay at Mathura / Vrindavan? Any suggestions regarding this?
- And lastly - do they have Tourism dept deluxe buses to all these places (Agra / Mathura / Vrindavan etc)?

Thanks once again for your help!

HI Sumanth...
Delhi would be too cold in the month of Decemeber...Do u think it would be a comfortable journey for your old aged parents...Think again...and if so then why didn't you include Tajmahal in your itenary?

Hi Maddy,
Ya... Taj Mahal is included in the Agra trip.
And about winters, mom and dad have traveled to Kedar-Badri & Vaishno Devi in the winters during the last two years.. so temperature dips wont deter them from going

In that case...i advice you to visit Tajmahal in the morning (7.00 am) only otherwise it would be too crowded ...about Mathura and Vridavan..do visit Angrezo ka mandir,,,its an awesome place...your parents would love that place...al time bhajan and kirtan...its wrong that Mathura and Vrindavan are dirty cities...not very clean nor dirty...there is no package tour available but i can help out as my mother & father in law stay in Agra...
In my opinion it's a bad idea to visit Taj at 7 AM in December. That's peak Fog time and it doesn't go away before 11 AM or so....
At 7 AM you can't enjoy the beauty of Taj in it's fullness.
And At Vrindavan, I say drop Angrezo ka mandir (ISKCON temple) from your list

Mathura and Vrindavan are very nice places to spend few days. They are not cleaner or dirtier from other Indian towns.
Sorry ! No idea about Package tours.
