Best way is to take a prepaid taxi, or a radio cab. About 300 rupees.
Browse the forum here, this has been answered a few times. |

Thank you Very Much
But will it be Safe to Travel during that Time Between 2 am to 6 am Because I have heard a Lot of rumors Travelling late in Delhi is very risky. People say that you have to be aware of the cab driver |

It has been pointed out many times that the pre-paid and radio taxis are quite safe.
An untoward incident can always take place. |

Radio Cabs: Radio Cabs / Dial-a-Cab in Delhi
Prepaid cabs: Just find the right booth at the airport. Don't be fooled into going to the not-so prepaid cab booth. You could check out the EATS bus for that matter. Try also http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/delhi.html (Note that this may not be completely up-to-date) http://www.newdelhiairport.in/ (New site I think, haven't found it all that useful so far, but see what you make of it.)

Domestic or international go to the Delhi police operated pre-paid booth.
Once under jetlag and influence of hospitality offered by AF I landed in Delhi and by mistake went to a private booth. I was told to pay Rs.1500 and when I asked him why so much he told me ..."Arey up NRI log desh ka koi khabar nehi rakhte. Aap ki ghar jish area mey hai woh Delhi ka bahar ho giya, NCR mein ....." Translated You NRI's don't know what is happening here. The area your house is in is now out of Delhi, now it is in National Capital Region. That was enough to rub off the jetlag and also the other influence. I walked away. Last edited by jyotirmoy : Feb 8th, 2008 at 15:49. Reason: grammer |

rohithm - there are quite a few hours to kill before your train departs. At that time of the night, early morning I reckon you'd reach the station in less than an hour. Maybe wait a little while in the airport before you take your cab? Aim to arrive 30 mins. before train departure and an hour for drive so if you left around 5 a.m. you will be there in plenty of time. Otherwise reach the station early and see if you can stay in one of the retiring rooms. Not much fun waiting hours out on the platform.

The running out of gas is the one that gets me - and this can take around 15-20mins. sometimes.

i agree
I agree, radio taxis are quite safe. I often use them while returning to Delhi at the airport, even when it is late at night. I have found that the best way is to book my cab a day or so in advance (I phone the Delhi number 44404440 for this), or I even book online at the website 44404440,com so that I know that the cab will be ready when I fly back.
