travel partners for quick rajasthan road trip August 10 or so
Hope this is not the wrong forum but I couldn't seem to find a more appropriate one. And this is a last minute long shot but...
We are a couple on a very extended honeymoon looking to make a quick road trip through Rajasthan with a hired car and driver. Our plan is to take off either August 9th or 10th and do a week trip from Dehli to Nawalghar to Bikaner to Jodhpur to Pushkar to Jaipur to Agra and back to Dehli. Yes I know it's rushed but we have fallen behind schedule. Anyway if by chance someone or or some 2 people would like to share the expenses on this venture please contact us asap. Cheers, Jeff and Jen |

![]() You're crazy. I would go as far as to say that this itinerary is impossible in a week. Have you any idea of the distances involved? |

What happens when you wake with Delhi Belly and it takes 3 or 4 hours until you're empty enough to get back in the car? There goes your schedule! I agree with Mickey S: you're trying to do too much in that week and any small thing could seriously disrupt your schedule -- and you're already running late, I see. Slow down. Don't try to do so much. I presume that you want to ENJOY your honeymoon ... I'm afriad a trip like you've planned, in the current high temperatures, will only make you very grumpy.

I just did a week from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur to Pushkar and back, and I would have liked a couple more days. You'll spend your whole time in a car.

We were looking to do something similar but a bit less. Something basic like:
Delhi - Japiur - Agra- back to Delhi We arrive in Delhi on Monday night (11 Aug) and were hoping to book with Namaste India Tours but they have not replied to my enquiry as they are without email until 9th Aug (or so it says on website). We were thinking of doing it ourself but following their rough itinerary as follows: Arrival Day: Will be late Monday night so some sort of airport pickup followed by night in hotel Day 2. City Tour of Delhi Day 3. Surface to Jaipur. Day 4. City Tour of Jaipur. Day 5. To Agra by way of Fatephur Sikri Day 6. City Tour of Agra. Return to Delhi. If you may be interested in that (and leaving a couple of days later than you planned) then get in touch with me as we can arrange something? Laura |

Yes, this is indeed very ambitous. We only have so much time and are still thinking of dropping a location or so, adding an intermediary stop, or trying to find time to add another day or two.
However, based on two different couples we just met in the last week they attempted something similar with satisfactory results. Much of their satisfaction lay in the fact that they preferred to drive for 4 hours or so a day in the middle - hottest part - of the day - which makes sense to me. As far as the distances involved I've figured it out exactly. The times though are harder. Based on the research I've done here was what I was able to come up with: Delhi to Nawalgarh: 6 hours Nawalgarh to Bikaner: 4 hours Bikaner to Jodphur: 5 hours Jodhpur to Pushkar: 4 hours Pushkar to Jaipur: 3 hours Jaipur to Agra: 6 hours Are these way off? Or in the ballpark? And Laura, right now it doesn't look like a match. But I'll contact you if things change. Thanks Jeff |

So you're going to spend one night in each place and then drive for 4-6 hours in the middle of each day to get to the next place?
Is this a vacation or an endurance test? Don't forget to come back and let us know how you got on... and what (if anything) you got out of it. |

No problem. Good luck with it. I think it's doable, just depends on the person. I spent a lot of last year driving all over Australia and yes, we did a LOT of driving but do not feel like we missed out. We saw pretty much everywhere and the most we drove at any one time was 6000km in 8 days! If you've got time constraints I guess it is possible.
Good luck! Laura |

Bad weather in North India
Jeff
Its pouring like cats & dogs in North India, flights are delayed and road conditions are very bad. seems you have to revise ur plan. Vivek Delhi ---------------------------------------------------- Quote:
Hi Vivek, and welcome to IM. We generally recommend you don't put your phone number up on a public forum (attracts telemarketers like flies). If you're not worried about it - feel free to list it again. Last edited by brownboy66 : Aug 8th, 2008 at 23:00. Reason: fixed quote |

Vivek - It may be raining in Delhi but out here and Jodhpur it's hardly anything. Many people are driving Rajasthan at the moment with very little hold up by rains. It's incorrect to say it's pouring cats and dogs all over North India.
