Transfer times between Delhi terminals
Flying to India for the first time next weekend with Jet Airways.
Flying to Delhi from London and arriving at 11:00 am. Have booked a connecting Jet Airways flight from Delhi to Udaipur leaving Delhi at 13:45. Is this connection time sufficient? I've heard tales that transfer time between the domestic and international terminals can take between 3-4 hours with immigration, customs, baggage collection and bus/taxi transfer. I'm travelling business class and Jet Airways state a minimum 2 hour connection time and have assured me verbally that this should be OK but I'm not convinced. Any advice would be very gratefully appreciated!!!!! Last edited by machadinha : Jan 8th, 2007 at 01:21. Reason: moved to delhi forum |

You can check http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/delhi.html and http://www.airportsindia.org.in/igi/index.jsp (open during business hours) for some general info but it won't address some of your specific queries. I think you'll be fine but that's mostly my gut feeling, in other words fairly useless. Since you're flying with the same company I assume they'll give you right of way if it gets tight. Then again in case of delays and blah... hey, it's India, and besides flights get delayed where I live. Does that sound comforting?

Me Too
I leave for India this Saturday via BA as well. Arrive at Delhi at 1:25 AM at Indira Ghandhi Airport and then leave for Bangalore on the 7:10 AM on Air Sahara from Indira Ghandhi Airport as well.
I assumed these were the same airports with not much land transport even though one is international and the other is domestic. Am I wrong about that? Or should I take land transport between the two? Also does Air Sahara have a shuttle bus service between the two? Help...

Some domestic flights also leave from the International Airport DD, perhaps this is the case with you. The domestic airport is a few kilometers away and is called something like Palam Airport!!
He he you sound like your getting all nervous, has it been a while?? |

It's been a while, but it's just a short busride really I think and buses are frequent, whether public or some shuttle kind of deal. I'm not sure about Delhi but these seem to be typically provided by the airport, not necessarily by your airliner (although I'm sure they work out something between them). I ended up at the wrong Delhi terminal one time in the early morning (aka middle of the night) seeing somebody off and things got a little hectic, with not too much traffic going on either. That person got through OK in the end though & was given preference indeed when we finally got to the right place. (I'm not sure if memory is not playing tricks on me but this may have been that one time I found myself in a rickshaw on the highway giving it all he had, quite the experience in itself
To clarify, they're not even supposed to go there at all I think.)This doesn't guarantee anything of course, but let's say the airport is designed to deal with this kind of thing. In principle. Technically. Hopefully. I think Enquiring with staff in case of panic should be helpful.Last edited by machadinha : Jan 8th, 2007 at 04:55. |

Some info in a thread I posted on when working on similar schedule:
Transfer time between Intl & Dom terminals haven't yet done the trip, so don't know for definite. If you get chance to post when you get to India, do let us know if you made the plane ok! |
