Trains to Agra

Hi

I keep finding links to pages where I can find and book trains in India. But everytime it seems I need a train number and I can`t get the sights to work out. But my question is how important is it to book trains for Agra? We will be going some where around the 3rd of February. Can we just show up on the day, or at least book the day before we want to go? Have only a week in Dehli so don`t have all the time in the world.

Thank you.

If you get New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express, it takes only 2 hours from New Delhi to Agra. This is the fastest train in India and runs at 150 km/hr in the NDLS-Agra stretch.

It comes back within the same night. If on a hectic schedule, you can visit Agra in a single day, start at 6 am from New Delhi, reach Agra at around 8 am, city tour, and catch the return train in late evening, might be around 8 pm, and reach New Delhi at 2200 hours. But book well in advance. This train has comfortable LHB coaches with Executive Class and Chair Car, all airconditioned, with a WAP-5 6000 horsepower electric locomotive doing the honours.

You can visit www.indianrail.gov.in for the detailed schedule.

Took the Shatabdi express both ways - from Agra to Jhansi Junction, and back from Jhansi Junction to Delhi. GREAT train - right on time both ways. Clean, fast and efficient service!
