Traffic chaos around Connaught Place?
There was a post on LP TT last month re traffic chaos in Connaught Place vicinity due to construction of new subway. Anyone in the area now or recently who could update us? Thanks a bunch! |

Since, there is a construction of a metro link at CP, u will find lot of diversions and traffic snarls at certain points. The traffic is at its peak during office hours and towards evening when people get back home. If u r travling to the railway station then keep a couple of hours up ur sleeves...if ur just want to walk around CP and see the shops etc, then I dont think the traffic will bother u.

No problem traffic
Traffic in CP (as of yesterday) was not any worse than any other shopping areas in Delhi. The metro construction has been well-managed (by Indian standards). Walking around and visiting shops is not a problem at all and neither is parking. Like any other place in Delhi, avoid rush hour and you should be fine.

Wise to stay in the CP area or better to go elsewhere
I should have asked how long are the traffic diversions in place for and also is it better to stay out of the CP area if one wants to get around quicker! Tks for replies!

Traffic is not that big a concern to decide not to stay in CP. I think u will just be fine with the traffic. Its well managed and it keeps on moving. You culd infact get caught in bad traffic virtually in any where else in Delhi....so why single out CP?

Agree!
I agree with the previous post (soulstation). I have been to CP many times in the past one week alone and have had no problem finding parking and/or with traffic diversions. The shops are all open and the parking lot in the inner-circle is fully functional. I have walked between Janpath and CP and walked all way to the emporiums for shopping. I have seen no major traffic back-ups. So, I don't see why anyone would stay out of CP.

I thought the metro construction interfered more with walking than driving in CP. You often have to go quite a distance out of the way just to cross streets.

Old Delhi looks good
Thanks everyone. Think we'll stay near to Old Delhi instead.
