to ambitious two week trip???

My wife and I arrive in Delhi at about 1 AM March 6. This is a very last minute trip where we both have 2 weeks off at the same time and someone can watch our daughter while we fullfill a dream of getting to India. The dream includes the Imperial Hotel in Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, (Lake Palace if available) Varanasi, 3 days at the Anananda Spa while I go on a three day trek and then we both return to Delhi. We leave to return to California on March 19. I have the following questions:

1. Is this to much to cover in the time we have?

2. In what order should we arrange the trip? She would like to do the Spa at the end if possible.

3. Is possible to fly between Delhi and Varanasi with a stop over in Aga?

Thank you, Bruce Green:

Agra

Right now there are no flights to Agra at all. The flights out of varanai are very booked so consider doing this soon. Enjoy!

It's going to be hectic, and I don't just mean the amount of stuff that you see in India that you won't see in Cali. Flights to Agra are highly limited (1x-2x service on a dash-8), and to Varanasi I haven't a clue. Train is the way to go in terms of the sheer logistics (availability, cost, but not so much time). Money is obviously not too much of a problem for you, if you are considering flying. In order to maximise your time in India, you can use the nights for travelling. I would recommend that you contact this company in England:

http://www.indiarail.co.uk

, describe what you want, and ask them to arrange an itinerary based on a First Class A/C Indrail Pass. Do this now, and they will book the trains for you in advance.

They are a very reputable company - I have bought a number of Indrail passes from them myself without problem, and they have often been mentioned on IndiaMike.

By travelling at night in First Class A/C trains (where available) this will free-up your time for enjoying India during the day.

thank you

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm still researching and trying to decide what to cut out. I was just reading about Holi which is March 14 or 15. It seems to fall on the same date as the elephant festival in Jaipur. Any opinons on either of these festivals?

Your India Tour

Dear Bruce You itinerary can go loke this.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi.
Day 3: Delhi - Jaipur.
Day 4: Jaipur.
Day 5: Jaipur - Jodhpur.
Day 6: Jodhpur.
Day 7: Jodhpur - Udaipur.
Day 8: Udaipur.
Day 9: Udaipur - Delhi (flight)
Day 10: Delhi - Varanasi.
Day 11: Varanasi.
Day 12: Varanasi - Delhi - Rishikesh.
Day 13: Rishikesh.
Day 14: Rishikesh.
Day 15: Rishikesh - Delhi (drive or flight). Late in the evening take international flight.

This is the best possible itinerary. While in Ananda - The Spa you can very well experience the trek of Kunjapuri trek and also Neekanth Mahadev trek in Rishikesh which are the day hiles and gives some good views of the Himalayan peaks.

Also holi is on 15 (day when color is played) and elephant festival is on 14th March in Jaipur.

Thanks
Sachin
