The fog cometh to Delhi

Woke up today & found that fog has finally come to Delhi. The airport scene as usual became chaotic & would remain so for quite some time to come. Although Cat-III ILS is installed but except a few pilots of Indian Airlines none are trained on this.
Driving to work was hell, could'nt see the tip of the bonnet of my car!
The Sun looked like a circular piece of tissue hung in the sky.
So left a note for the Queen to keep some Hyderabadi trotter soup (recipe will appear in the Cuisine forum) ready when I return home. I will buy some quails on the way & sipping a few stiffish shots of Finlandia I will cook a Coq au Vin!

How do you know about ILS? Any aviation backgroud. (I am a commercial IFR Pilot) Just curious since an average guy doesn't have much knowledge of VASI PAPI and ILS approach system.

Last january we were delayed 11-30hrs in amsterdam airport as fog was expected in Delhi around our arrivals time.

Moral: If you're arriving into Delhi at this time of year don't plan a tight schedule out of there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

SeventiesHippy you are right. Even trains get delayed so these are to be considered.

It seems the fog starts in February, when does it no longer pose a problem. I guess mid-January will be high fog time?? Arg, and I already hate flying without worrying about fog. How about March? Will the fog risk be over then?

The flights in & out of Delhi are at this moment badly affected. The smaller airlines with their lack of experienced manpower & infrastructure are most troubled. Passanger resentment is on the rise giving way to scuffles and all that sort of things.
