I think after immigration and security everyone ends up in the same place in T3. Can't muster up a visual for where you might agree to meet tho. I always get in in the middle of the night so I am half asleep by the time I walk out.

Thanks for the response. If it is a common arrival hall after the immigration & customs, I can just hang around in the hall to wait for my wife.

Hello all

I would like to do a Delhi Bicycle tour from 06.30AM until 10.30AM in September. However, I have a flight leaving from Delhi airport to Udaipur at 14.15. I would like to know if you think this is enough time to collect my luggage and head to the airport, allowing enough time for my flight? I've been told the bike tour is close to my hotel but I have no idea what traffic is like during the afternoon. Any advise would be appreciated. I don't know if the metro is in operation?
Thanks

You haven't mentioned where in Delhi your hotel is. People will need to know that to tell you how long it might take to get to the airport.

I should think you'd be cutting it rather close. I presume you'd think of getting to the airport by about 12:15 for a 14:15 flight. That gives you less than two hours to gather gear and find your way to the Metro and out to the airport. Even if you skip a scrub-up after the bicycle ride and have only to grab a backpack and go, it's cutting it close.

But I'm a conservative old cuss, so often exposed to the manymany things that can go wrong with getting from A to B in India that I no longer take chances. I'm sure there are more daring members who would say to go for it.

Thank you for the advice : )

The more I think about it, the more I'm swayed that it's probably best to give it a miss on this occasion.

Perhaps I'll look into the hop on / hop off tours instead or just hire a rickshaw.

I would be arriving in Delhi Domestic airport by evening 8 o clock on Friday. How long will it take for me to reach New Delhi Railway station?
Will i be able to catch train at 1030pm??
Which is the best mode of transport. I know that METRO is no longer in service.. So please suggest me an alternative transport..

Hi Laura,

I would advise against it as you can't really rely on Delhi traffic....I would suggest you to hire a rickshaw or something and have travel on that instead doing a bike trip because i am assuming that you don't want to miss your flight for sure

Also, if you have not way too much luggage with yourself then you can try using Delhi Metro which is a good, safe and pleasant way to travel in Delhi

Hi Karthik,

Yes, Considering that you will be out of the airport by 08:45 PM then you should be able to make it NDLS by 10:30 PM unless Mr. Fate decides that you should not be traveling..... Best mode of transport was Delhi Metro but now since it has stopped so i will suggest you hiring a pre-paid taxi or there is a bus service as well...

Question Delhi International Airport question

I am arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport next month (approx. 3 AM arrival). My fiance would be receiving me at the airport. My question is, is there a designated area INSIDE the building where he could wait for me?? I don't want to end up walking out of the airport building and having to search for him, because I'd feel really unsafe outside in a new place! But he keeps asking me if they'd let him into the building.

I thought that right after we collect our baggage we just walk straight into the throng of people who are waiting for their friends/family/relatives to arrive. Isn't it that way in Delhi?

Please guide me.

I walked through that very throng last night about 11PM. There was no crush but the temperature was about 29 degrees. As I wasn't being met I took little notice but there seems to be an inner area where limo drivers wait with passenger name signs. The new terminal appears not to have the mayhem that existed outside the old place.

Oh thanks for the info. Right, that's what I thought. See, I am getting conflicting info everywhere. Some people are telling me they don't let you into the building without a ticket, for safety measures. Hence I'd have to walk outside and perhaps even pace around a bit until I find him (eeek!).
And yet videos I viewed online are showing that crowd waiting on the inside (holding placards and all). Even you observed the same thing.
Confusing!
