Taxi Pickup Service

Im not sure if this belongs in this topic or in Accommodation.

I've booked into Master Paying Guesthouse in Delhi and arranged a taxi transfer from the airport. The are charging 650R which I know is expensive but at 6am after a long flight I'll just want to get to my room.

Has anyone used this service from this guest house before and is it reliable?

The hotel's email says: "The transfer is for Rs.650/- payment for which can be settled with the Taxi Company later."

Settling the bill later worries me.

I have heard travellers heaping praise on Master Guest House so the service should be ok. you can go to the Delhi Police operated pre-paid taxi booth & buy a coupon for your destination. Then take a cab & go. 6 AM isn't too early.

There are private taxi operators so avoid them & head for the Govt./Police run booth only. write down the address of the hotel on a piece of paper & hand it to the clerk at the booth. While leaving the airport cops will ask your name & destination. Hand over the coupon to the druver only after reaching your destination. Ask the hotel for some kind of land mark near by.

I reckon i'll cancel the hotel tranfer they have arranged and sort it out ourselves then. The hotel told us our driver will be waiting with our name and flight nubmer on a board. This indicates that he won't be expecting us to buy a coupon- he'll just want us to get in the cab.

They are charging you for both Hotel-Airport & Airport-Hotel. So if you take the pre-paid taxi you will pay half !!!!
