Taxi from Delhi questions

Hi you all,

we would like to take a taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh, and i was wondering how much it should cost, how long is the ride, and weather any of you know of a good reliable driver that drives an A/C taxi.

Also, a week later, we would need to travel again from Delhi (leaving around 4 am from teh airport), to Agra, and then from agra to Pushkar. Can it be done in one day considering we're taking a taxi? is it best to stop somewhere along the way?(we're not so anxious to spend a whole day in Agra, since we've visited the Taj last year and now we're re-visiting with friends)

any insights and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

if you will hire taxi/car from delhi to rishikesh it will cost you around 2500 rs to 3000rs if you will hire S.U.V it will cost you 3500rs to 4000rs
it can be less then that it depends on your bargain power..

When we reserved a room at Prince Polonia we also tried to reserve a taxi but their offer was 4,700rs. So I'm really glad to know that my gut feeling was correct and they are way overpricing.

Any suggestions regarding reliable drivers or where to book a taxi?

My Guess is a Cab should charge around Rs 6-7 Per KM. The Cab Company charge for a minimum of 250 Kms per day. There is an additional Charge of about Rs 200-250 Per night for the driver.

Delhi-Rishikesh should be around 250 Kms. So My Guess is that for an AC Car Rs 4000 should be fine for 2 days Delhi-Rishikesh-Delhi.

BTW Which car are they offering?

Actually, they didn't specify in the email what car they are offering, and i rejected their offer, since it is not the first time we're in India and i figured i can get a better deal when we get to Delhi.

However, i still want to know what to expect and I'm still contemplating how to handle all the transport issue, not only to Rishikesh but also to Agra and Pushker as i wrote in my first message.

i dont know when you are coming and how many people are you so that i can suggest you any advice,, and whats your programme,, like how long you will be in rishikesh...

delhi to rishikesh is around 250 km and delhi to pushkar is 410 km and delhi to agra is 250km now ...
so if you would be able to tell us whats your plan then any member can help you....

On the way from Delhi to Rishikesh we will be 3 people and we would like to leave Delhi on Nov. 24th we are going to stay in Rishikesh until the 29th and we still don't know what is the plan for coming back from Rishikesh to Delhi.

Then on the 30th we are supposed to pick a friend from the airport around 5am (so then we will be 4 people) continue from the airport to Agra, stay there for 3-4 houres (visit the Taj and eat breakfast) and then continue to Pushkar.

So i need a reliable driver, with a comfortable car (guess SUV is the best) and with reasonable prices, and preferably, one driver for both trips so we can get to know him.

Does it make sense or are we hoping for two much here?

There is excellent train connection between Delhi & Haridwar. From Haridwar you can take a cab to Rishikesh.

A Toyota Innova would cost you about 8 - 9 Rupees per Kilometer from delhi to Rishikesh.

Driver costs about 300 - 400 Rs per night ( Including standard tips overall and meals )

hi how are you..
you need a taxi only for drop you to rishikesh or also you need a taxi in rishikesh untill 29th .... if you just need a droping to rishikesh then i taxi will cost you around 3500rs to 4200rs and if you need a taxi for entire trip then you can bargain ....
and after visiting pushkar you will come back to delhi or you will go ahed....
i think it will be better first you calculate your days then you can bargain better and then only any member can give the better idea....
