Sorry to interject but does anyone know about taking a taxi from the airport. I am a girl traveling alone from Dehli to Noida. I have heard that the trip may take a few hours and was curious to see what IM folks think about this.

Need not worry about anything..just take a prepaid taxi from the airport...it might take around couple of hours to read Noida from there..but that is the max..

If you are a first time India/Delhi traveller arriving in the early hours of the morning, I would suggest take a prepaid taxi at daybreak. This is not essential, it's just safer.

The trip may take upto two hours during office hours. If early morning, less.

Do read up other threads on this forum about Delhi airport and prepaid taxis.

Thanks! I am going to take your advice including the day travel suggestion, I was planning on doing so but reinforcement is great. By the way are these offices located in the airport? This might seem silly as a question but is there a rule of thumb about tips. I have know NYC cabbies to yell at you if they feel youhave not tipped enough?

No..even if you don't then that's good enough...they don't expect you to ... they are compensated well enough by the prepaid tariff..and before you ask other questions...

The office if right outside the exit, and run by Traffic Police..just go there tell them you want to go to Noida, they may or may not ask which sector in Noida and baggage you have...they will tell you a fare, which would be mentioned on the board..and give you a receipt in exchange of money...

Take the first cab from the queue and he might want to see the receipt, let him see it and take it back..remember you have to hand over the receipt at the end of the journey as the drivers only get paid once they present the receipt back to traffic police..

PS : But a tip Rs.10 OR 20 would do no harm..

Google to find out whether the bus for Dehradun leaves from Kashmiri Gate ISBT or/and Anand Vihar ISBT..

From airpoirt take a taxi to the respective ISBT and board the bus..

PS : ISBT = InterState bus terminus.

you want to go to closer bus station or the station from where you can actually get the bus for Dehradun ??

Just google and find from where the bus leaves and that is the one you have to go..
