Hi,
in November I will be be for about 10 days in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. I would like to use this opportunity to get a made-to-measure suit and some shirts tailored. How can I find a good tailor and how long would it take to get the clothes tailored? What would be the price for a suit or shirt? How is the quality? A couple of years ago I did the same in Thailand and I was very satisfied.

I would rcommend going to Delhi Cloth House in Khan Market that sells fabrics for men's suits and shirts and has a tailor on the premises to make your chosen outfits.
Though they are slightly on the expensive side you get quality :both in fabrics and stitching and minimal hassles. Stitching for suits costs between rs2500-rs3000 but that includes lining fabric/buttons etc and for shirts about rs250-rs300. You do not have to buy your fabric from the shop to use the tailor but they do have an excellent choice. I have used this shop and tailor for the past 5 years . Feel free to complain if you are not happy with the fitting and he will alter as necessary.
As with most shops etc in India I always tell a white lie about when I need something finished by.....so if I am leaving town/country on say the 10th I tell them I am leaving on the 7th and please do not pay for the stitching in advance except a small deposit if asked. Though you will have to pay for the fabric before they start the sitching.

I had a few things made at the Delhi Cloth House in Khan Market and can heartily recommend them. They do a great job and finish it when they say they will. Stsill, it's always good to leave a bit of a margin....
Tailor + Khan Market
It's relatively small but good. Any rickshaw wallah knows where it is and will take you there. While you're at it, go to Full Circle Bookstore and have a smoothy or coffee on the terrace upstairs. It's one of my favorite spots in Delhi and I often think about it when I'm back home.
